but, the plastic goes on and on and on. There is no hope or relief for the plastic dolls, plastic R Redford, or for plastic church members. There will always be plastic people everywhere. No matter what happens the plastic will live on and on and on. Hummmmm... what to do?

I hope you'll find there's a variety of opinion in Utah on this issue, and that many Mormons are in fact very nice people. Others... well, Mormons are human, just like anyone else, including some who are--and the truth hurts them--rather easily offended.

I'm a Mormon, but living out of Utah I managed to make many good Christian friends of various denominations. We learned to respect the common values in each other's religions, though it was often a matter of agreeing to disagree about doctrine. I hope you will find church members who will value what's good about you and your Baptist faith rather than treating you like you're different.

But yes, also don't be surprised to meet some people whose attitudes come straight off this chat board. Sorry, WOW and everyone else. But God loves all his children, who come from EVERY religious denomination, anyway! Maybe some/many of us should act more like we know that instead of engaging in all this madness.

Hey--I wonder--incredible as it might be, maybe God even still loves Robert Redford! Could it be?
Plastic Army Men | 10:41 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
Sorry to say, but you guys forgot to add Plastic "Army Men" to the list of plastic things above. When I was little guy, I had some plastic army men...They were cool little guys too.

A thousand years from now some body will be digging in an old landfill and they will accidentally come across some ancient artifacts, like diapers, hot-dogs, my plastic army men, and of course, plastic Robert Redford. I'm pretty certain these future people will be quite overwhelmed with joy over their big find.

I welcome Mr. Redford's opinion. We have many detractors and when we can put a face on our nay-sayers it brings brings to light the wonderful restored church that has been built and the envy that it instills. We will spread this religion as wildfire and the comments of Mr. Redford will only stregnthen our testimony.

Tolerance: a: sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one's own b: the act of allowing something.

I think most the people commentng here could use some practice in this exercise.

I fully support Robert Redford's statements. He was asked about Mitt Romney, not the lds church. He made a generalized statement about all mormons going on missions...big deal. I think the generalizations and intolerance of ones opinion as exhibited in these posts, are much worse than what Redford said. And besides, if Romney wasn't mormon, his name wouldn't be in the headlines. It seems like a daily occurrence in this paper... How many articles have you read about Obama or Edwards? They aren't making the headlines (at least in this state) because they don't have the controversy. Romney is eating it up, now he gets to make a speech about it and be on the news once again. He's working the publicity. Who cares what Redford said, Is that the worst thing that has happened to mormons? move on with your lives.

To Merriam:

I think most the people commenting here have been listening to too much Rush Limbaugh and have not noticed what a nasty person they've morphed into.

I like the little green army men and R Redford landfill comment...lol!

Merriam, however has a twisted view of things.
Merriam | 6:44 p.m. Dec. 4, 2007
How is my view twisted? Because one guy said something about another guy who happens to be mormon, you want to string him up. One poster said they wanted him cained and banished from the state. That's not very tolerant of anothers viewpoint. You want tolerance for your viewpoints, yet when someone is voicing against those viewpoints(in this case, a generalization, that's not too far off btw) they are intolerant bigots. Many here are being intolerant of Mr. Redfords viewpoint about Mitt Romney being "plastic". Isn't he entitled to his opinion? Maybe my viewpoint is twisted... I didn't know that it's impossible for mormons to be intolerant.
Roy | 8:02 p.m. Dec. 4, 2007
Mormons are the MOST intolerant group of people I have ever met! Redford is right on! His only mistake is that he doesn't speak strongly enough against Mormons.

Don't you Mormons ever get tired of playing the "we are so persecuted" card?!
