Great! I thought the Mormon girls in my life were just peculiarly special and wonderful... now I know it is because they are rebellious - and notoriously so!

Actually, there are MANY mormon girls who are rebellious. MOrmon guys too. It's the conservative nature they're brought up in that does it. Some taste the real world and so wild, others stay faithful and in the church.

It's actually a very factual statement.

Sure ... it is a known fact

Absolutely right. Just before I married my wife (Utah beauty pageant winner), she said she expected lots of kids, contrary to my being raised as nearly an "only child" in a part-member family. We remember Joseph Fielding at a BYU Devotional clearly stating, "You will be damned if you don't have as many as you can!" Some ears curled. We both wondered. Soon as we got married, she said, "I won't work outside the home until all of them are raised." The last of 8 is 15, & she's still not working outside the home. I never paid tithing before we got married, wasn't raised in the Church. She said we'd pay the 10%. We do. She was not "born to shop". She doesn't. She's cut all our hair, & hers, for 36 years. Got the scriptures practically memorized. FHE, family prayer, scriptures. PG-13 . . . only sometimes. No short sleeves or tanktops for our girls. New FamilySearch, temple & family history fanatic. My faithful, rebellious guide, impossible to escape! She says I'm in charge, & the kids all think so too, but . . . . I've sometimes wondered.

I dated a girl, who is now a Hooters waitress, while I was at BYU. She was LDS, although not so active these days from what I hear.

I loved the article! I am proud of the girls and young women who rebel against the evils of the world. I am grateful for their example. I am grateful, too, for the mothers and grandmothers who taught them to rebel so effectively.

I pray for the young women who rebel against that which is right. They do not understand the consequences. Yet I have faith one day they will recognize the truth and again choose the right.

Has anyone researched the meaning of "notorious"?

Mother of Mormon Girls - the meaning and etymology of the word notorious is as follows.
notorious:
1548, "publicly known," from M.L. notorius "well-known, commonly known," from L. notus "known," pp. of noscere "come to know" (see know). Negative connotation arose 17c. from frequent association with derogatory nouns
