Comments about ‘Rival cousins: Related Ute QB, Cougar receiver are dialed into rivalry’

Great story. I like the attitudes and wish more of us fans would adopt it. I ALWAYS root for Utah except for one game each year. I'm getting excited to be in Provo to watch the Cougars beat the Utes.

Close game but I'm predicting (hoping) that its BYU 27 and Utah 24. BYU's special teams will surprise everyone (including Cougar fans) and play evenly with the Utes. BYU's defense will actually outplay the Utes higher ranked D because BYU's Offense is much more potent and versatile than Utah's. Utah will pick on the secondary though and cause some very tense moments.

Okay you two, YALL from TEXAS and you trying say this is one of the top 3 rival games in the NATION! Not trying to take anything away but this is the biggest rival games in UTAH ONLY! Repeat this if evr come a year (dont hold your breath) when this rival game may determine if one if these teams would ever be in the run for a National Championship! You know; TEXAS vs OKLAHOMA - OHIO vs MICHIGAN - ANY PAC 10 RIVALS - or FLORIDA TEAM RIVALS - or any other REAL RIVALS...Don'e get me wrong, its a great beehive state rival but lets not go overboard, especially two guys from TEXAS. Oh my bad, Yall just going with the flow out here for now! Its all good, the local media have a story now to add to this IN STATE RIVAL

How big a rivalry is has nothing to do with who knows about it. It has everything to do with how intense it is. To that end this is one of the best rivalries in the nation. There is more intensity in this rivalry than any I know of.

coming from washington state I am not surprise then you know nothing about rival games...

Reed has played in games...and was part of the fateful 4th down failed attempt when Beck's pass fell short in the '05 OT.

What makes a great rivalry? Is it how many people know about it? Or it is how intense it is? Passion for each side?
I kind of agree with Washington guy. I think people need to understand great rivalry versus well know great rivalry games.

The best rival in the state of utah was and use to be Dixie vs Snow, Weber vs SUU and now its BYU vs Utah

Response to "come on." What you say, is what makes this such a great rivalry. This game matters although it will likely never determine a national championship. Think the Texas - Tx A&M rivalries of the 80's 90's, they have shriveled in significance since A&M has gone sour. You are right, it is an in state rivalry, which makes it even bigger b/c the schools are so close to each other, it divides the state.
