I wish I was intelligent and could think of something
profound and witty as a response to the Humane Society and their objections to the white rhino skin.

The best I can do is: GET A LIFE!

I have nothing against hunters. I'm not a hunter, but it's a legitimate sport and I have no problem with that. But trying to teach conservation efforts by shooting a rare animal in the wild, then skinning it and displaying its hide just doesn't make sense.

This is insane. What the heck is the Humane Society doing with a White Rhino. What is the problem? The reasonn the rhino is in the museum is to show and tell people about it. It is for educational purposes. You guys at the Humane society should learn some common sense. BYU is a university hence it gets stuff for educational purposes.

I think animals should be treated with kindness and love by one's own choice not by mandate of a corrupt, liberal (nigh communist) law or bleeding-heart animal rights group. PETA and the Humane Societies of the world have gone too far. Animal rights, who up and decided that animals have or even wanted rights? Probably some Woodstock liberal whose brain has been chemically altered by the marijuana, cocaine and who knows what else they have done in their life. Animals don't even understand the concept of a right? I don't know of any animals that freely converse with humans or vice versa, telling us, "oh please protect me"!. Displaying the skin of an animal killed by mandate of a game preserve in another country does not hurt anybody but the liberals. People have been killing animals for hundreds of thousands of years. Why should it be different now? It only exposes the stupidity and fanaticism of modern liberals and progressives. They really should focus their attention on issues that are of a more worthy nature, like defeating the Taliban and Al-Qaida, because they won't have any pity on animals when they kill them indiscriminately.

I am a member of PETA (people eating tasty animals), and I bet that the rhino tasted good to the people that the meat went to. Displaying the rhino for conservation purposes makes sense to me because most of the wild life offices have animals on the office walls, and they are conservationists. The humane society has no business existing. If a person wants to refrain from taking part in the amazing experience of harvesting wildlife, that is their choice, but don't take my rights away. And if I want to display my animals on the wall, then again, that is my decision.

I have been in Mr. Morris's home on two different occasions to view his wildlife collection. There have been all age levels represented in the two groups that I was with. Everyone was facinated by the beauty and diversity of the animals he has gathered. Young and old enjoyed the many numbers of exotic creatures that we would never be able to view in a zoo or in wild.

A large protion of the money that hunters spend in persuit of their trophy goes back to help the wildlife. In our own county, the elk, waterfowl, wild turkey and many other species have benefited from the money spent by the sportsman. Without these funds many projects would not have occurred. I am sure that most the dollars Mr. Morris spent on his white rhino hunt were put back into rhino conservation efforts in Africa. Mr. Morris should be congratulated for his generosity in letting the public view something they would never be able to see anywhere else in their lifetime.

A rhino hide only represents a poor dead animal.
In the name of Liberty, Freedom and Democracy why not diplay some hides from Iraq while we're at it. I don't think many are that satisfied or interested in seeing merely a few ears on a string.

I think that the Human Society shoulf back off. The hunter who shot this animal really is doing the public a great favor by letting BYU showcase the skin. Another thing that bothers me about this artical is, who got the information that the Church of Jesus Christ is against hunting? I am a member and have been my whole life and I have NEVER heard the church say that it is agents hunting. If the Human Society has time to triffle with such a large University and its education tactics then why are are there so many homeless and needy animals wondering the streets in neighborhoods across the country? Go work on that Human Society!

I have no problem with hunting per se, but for a species that is so low in numbers each individual becomes more important in terms of their genetic diversity. It would have been better to relocate the animal from this species and kill some other less endangered species. But then that wouldn't get
in the news would it?

The Humane Society, PETA, Greenpeace, etc., score money on blurbs without telling the facts. The facts in this case (as they often do) change everything.

In this case the money spent on the tag by Mr. Morris/the BYU conservation effort, went to relocate 3 relocatable young rhinos. The white rhino that was harvested in an area suffering from overpopulation of rhinos, could not have been moved due to it's size. (It would have suffocated during the lift.)

Otherwise put, many rhinos were saved by harvesting this very old rhino.

If you study Mr. Morris's efforts, he's saved many species. .. many more than PETA and the Humane Society for sure, and I intend to address his heroics in a documentary.
