I just saw that the Warriors released Stephane Lasme, last year's ncaa shot block leader. I know he's undersized and the Jazz are pretty set at power forward, but I think the Jazz should give him a chance. Anyone else agree?

Jerry knows basketball and how it needs to be played. But his interprsonal skills with his players stink! Sports journalists ask him him the same questions over and over again and everybody knows what his answers will be. They never change. You've seen one Sloan interview and you've seen them all. I can't wait till he's hung up his sneakers to go to ride tractors back in Illinois!
Backhome fan o' Jerry | 4:59 p.m. Nov. 19, 2007
Yes I'm a fan of Coach's & I'm here to tell you this: Jerry Sloan has more passion, more guts and more soul than any of today's "players & coaches". He's doing a job where (AT TIMES) some players make him look bad by doing what he tries to instill in them NOT to do: loafing on D, forgetting to block out on the board & showtiming on passes that end up in their opponent's hands. It's a job that Jerry has stuck with for the past 20 years & I daresay any of you fairweather fans could do HALF as good. Have there been ups & downs? Sure, I'd imagine so...but you've not seen the man off the court on those tractors have you? He's got a far away look on his face & if you KNOW him you know he's working harder in the offseason on UTAH basketball than any of you fairweather fans will ever understand.
I know because I see it firsthand every summer. He's hardnosed & defense minded but it's gotten UTAH to the playoffs most years.
It's the players who finish. Gripe at them.

Well said "fan o' Jerry." Sloan expects nothing but smart basketball with tough defense and well executed passing. So far this season I've seen great and ugly passing. I'd like to see more of the former. I have no doubt that Williams and Booz will step it up, Kirelinko is playing great! Giricek has got to stop traveling. Brewer is the most consistant player on the team, gold star for him! Harpring has some healing to do, but he'll get back to being Jerry's favorite here soon

Coach Sloan is the best in the business (with apologies to Coach Riley who is equally great!)
I find the wisdom he imparts in his interviews to be endlessly fascinating and it's hard for me to see how some people don't see it.

Coaching is not about giving sound bites. We're lucky Coach Sloan is very open to the press and we get to read a piece of his mind now and then.

What are you talking about? You say Sloan can't communicate with the players and then you run off on a tangent by saying Sloan gives the same answers to the same questions asked by journalists. Why should Sloan answer the same question differently? He's not a hypocrite. Blame the media for asking questions they already know.

The reason I like Sloan is because he's consistent and you know what you'll get from him. You know that he's going to tell the Jazz to execute on offense and give 100% on defense every game. Suit yourself if you want some wishy-washy, compassionate coach to take Sloan's place. I'll take Jerry any day because his track record shows he's a proven winner.
