Hats off to the "leaders" of the City of Provo. This is the perfect time to start a major project as we enter into a major recession. I don't think Provo will ever get the ball back from Orem. Orem got the Costco and the Walmart. I hope Provo doesn't resort to tax increases to make up for their poor planning!
woopdy-do, yet another bland, cookie-cutter development with the same big box stores that everyone else has. How exciting for you, Provo. However, you won't be getting my tax dollars, because my town already has all these stores.
That's all we need as another strip mall in Provo. The Provo city leaders are behind the times. Why don't they put their efforts into bringing in some businesses that will create quality jobs? We have plenty of minimum wage jobs already.
a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods?
(It's not the liquor laws, because I've been to both stores in states where liquor is even more controlled than in Utah.)
I think Provo City leaders are doing a great job. Provo is so much nicer than Orem. Utilites are much cheaper, taxes are lower, and all of this is done with less sales tax revenue.
And Provo doesn't look like one huge strip mall...
Trick or Treat: You make it sound like that's a bad thing. Actually, if we really are heading into a recession, it's the best time to start this kind of project. Construction jobs will be scarcer overall, so available labor be greater, and materials probably cheaper. Stores should start opening about the time that the next glorious president will have vanquished all our fiscal problems and people will be flush with cash.
Seriously, recessions are cyclical. They alway end and a greater period of prosperity follows. This is actually good timing. You sound like most stock market investors: Buy high and sell low.
Whatever you think of this project, for whatever reason, it's not a bad time to start it.
Whole Foods is being built at Trolley Square. Trader Joes would be great!
Wow...imagine how much worse the traffic will be in that area...as if it's not bad enough already.
Why don't more people want unique developments? Wouldn't that make your community more interesting? Why does that not matter? I just don't get what can be exciting about a bunch of common big-box stores made out of cinder block and surrounded by parking lots. Boring......
I would like a Trader Joe's too. If you really want one, you need to go to the Trader Joe's website and request one. If they get enough requests, then they'll build one.
Please don't let this post turn into one of those Utah Culture rumors like the "IN 'n OUT Burger in St. George" rumor from three years ago.
that anti-progress, anti-capitalist, anti-growth people always complain on sites like this. If you spent as much time working as you do complaining you wouldn't be so depressed and you would feel that you life has more meaning.
