Utah Man

I am proud of our guys for fighting back and keeping in the game. Last year, they would have given up when they got down by 11. Thanks Coach B. Keep up the good work!! We are moving in the right direction...finally!

The Utes did fight hard, but need to protect the ball, htey made a lot of stupid unnecessary fouls. Nevill needs to get stronger & smarter. Neville - even though I didn't agree with some of the calls, cost them a lot last night. Plus the Utes didn't shoot well from the free-throw line.

This was a game we would have lost by 30 last year under Giac. Boylen has taught these guys how to play defense and run offensive plays. The only discouraging part was how it turned into the Johnny Bryant show again at the end of the game with him improvising 3 pointers. That happened during all our close games last year with the same result - a loss. Let's give someone else a chance to step up - how about Weigh? I realize Borha took the last 3 pointer, but before that it was "live or die" by Bryant and once again we died. Overall, though, I am extremely encouraged and I think we've got a great shot at winning the conference this year.

Great game yesterday. I thought that Doug Gottlieb made a great point about playing a tough game on the road. This game, even though they lost, does nothing but help prepare Utah for the conference and beyond. There are obviously areas of improvement, but innumerable positives from yesterday.

The announcers were right last night. Nevill is just not tough. He kind of reminds me of Shawn Bradley. He's tall and has better ball skills than Bradley, but has zero toughness. While the refs definitely hosed the utes, Neville had no reason to throw (or even appear to throw) guys to the floor after made buckets. It was extremely stupid.

good game

I was encouraged by what I saw last night. I agree with earlier posts....last year we would have lost by a lot more. Boylen has brought some good coaching to this team finally.

What has happend to Shawn Green's offensive game?? last night and the game before it's basically non-exisistant. I know he was an amazing scorer in high school and he put pretty good numbers last year.

I'm not blaming the game on the refs...but did they even call a foul on Washington in the second half?

Good work Utes - keep improving and we will be back on top.

The Utes fought hard, but their inexperience/lack of confidence came through via silly mistakes at the end. They were in a position to win and couldn't seal the deal. Plus, I think the refs made some questionable calls againsts Nevill. There was a definite home court advantage for the Huskies.

Still, I think that Utah looked pretty good and I expect them to get better each game. No doubt they will take this game and build on it.
GO UTES!!!!!

I thought the Utes played very well last night and I'm excited about this season. That Brockman kid showed why he was selected as a First Team All Pac-10 Forward last year. He is a beast. Remember too that Washington is a real tough place to play - just ask Arizona, UCLA, and Stanford when they were #1.

I didn't get to see the game, but after hearing and reading about it, it sounds encouraging. A loss is still a loss, but it's good to hear that defense is once again a word that is mentioned at the U. Nevill has always needed more toughness. I hope Boylen can instill that in him. Coach B. is moving this program forward again in the right direction!! I can't wait to see what he does with players that he recruits.

first off its Shaun, not Shawn, ha. The problem with his game is that he only takes one shot, and I doubt it is because he is afraid to shoot. With Giac, he'd make three in a row, miss one and get yanked out of the game. HE is one of the best post passers I've ever seen, and if they could get him on the wing or in the corner and run and inside out 2 man game with he and Nevill, he'd get plenty more shots. Plus, after shooting 51% from 3's last year he is probably on everyone's scouting report.

If the NBA can take steps to eradicate the super-palm dribble, so can the NCAA. Washington's guards, especially the one with the sleeves took three steps for every one time the ball hit the floor, so does everyone else though, too bad.

Kim Tillie? If I remember correctly, wasn't she the 5A MVP back in '06? Utes are lucky to have her -- I understand Pat Summit recruited her hard....
