Lori Ezzell

Craig Ezzell is a miracle and to me so are the Layton Lancers! Layton High, the seminary, and the team are all a class act. The football team and coaches have been amazing throughout his recovery. They lined the waiting room on the day of his accident, visited him in the hospital, worked out with him in our home gym, and they continue to work out with him at school and watch out for him all the time. When Craig first returned to school last January part time, James even arraigned his schedule to match Craigs so he could walk him to his classes. I have witnessed these strong, tough guys cry for him, pray for him and celebrate with him as goals have been reached. They brought tears to my eyes as they lifted Craig up on their shoulders after the Northridge victory! The parents of these guys should be proud of the fine young men they have raised! We will always love these boys. We will all be there on Friday cheering you on to victory. Best of luck in the State Championship game and remember that you will always be champions to us!

Love it!

The more I read about Layton and their players, the more I respect them. It seems like these boys are more than just good football players. It seems like they are good people. I now see why everyone is so proud of them. Good Luck in the Finals. I mean that. It is good to see both teams (not the fans but players) be so classy.
Trust me, Layton has Alta's respect.

Alta fan

i am an alta fan and dont tell anyone but i want layton to win. alta will be here every year for a long time. i think layton will be a one hit wonder. and this sounds like just a dream season and its more than just football for these guys i hear something about a mother battling cancer and then this amazing kid.... they deserve it...just as much as alta, all these teams dont understand how hard alta has worked as well.. no matter the outcome these are the two teams that deserve to play here THIS IS THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP it was not decided last week

LANCER ALUMNI

I was really excited to see my old high school reach the state championship. It brought back a lot of great memoires when Layton was truly one of the powerhouses in football. It is even more awesome to see the quality of young men that are on this team. It makes me even more proud to be a Layton Lancer. Go Lancers!

This is a top notch article that has touched the hearts of everyone who has been there with Craig and his family during this whole nightmare. But the story forgot to mention the strength of the Ezzell family which is a true story of its own. The tight friendships that were developed and magnified outside in the waiting room at the hospital speak mountains. Its awesome to see his recovery and even a better feeling to know of his die hard love of the U and to know that he will be there Friday night with all of us from Layton supporting all of our boys as we take state...

new friend

I didn't know craig before the accident, but i met h im this year, and before i even knew what happened i have enjoyed him! at the begining of the season he said to another player, you guys make it to state and i will be dressed on the field with you, i had to smile, but in my mind i thought, what i dream. and it is a dream but i am so proud of all these guys, they got to state and craig got to dress. may the dreams continue to come true! Lancer boys make it happen!

i'm a student at northridge and i went to school with craig since i beleive kindergarten, up until high school. its truley amazing what he's gone through. craig is an awesome kid, along with all the guys on laytons squad. and i'm backing the lancers 100% take it to alta on friday.

Beautiful Story!

Thank you to John Coon for putting a beautiful story down on paper, but you could write a book about how these players rallied around Craig. EX: there is a 4 way stop on Antelope Drive in East Layton that had a huge sign tied to a chain-link fence the day after Craig's accident saying "Pray for Craig! You couldn't miss it as you waited for your turn to go. I'll bet hundreds of prayers were said at that location and the sign stayed there through snow and rain and when the wind blew it off one night,I saw kids putting the tattered sign back up and this was weeks after the accident. It had an impact on me and I didn't know exactly what was going on at the time, but hats off to Layton for their loyalty, their determination, and faith both on and off the field. GO LAYTON AND DO WHAT YOU ALWAYS DO, NEVER GIVE UP, YOU WILL BE REWARDED, JUST AS YOUR WERE WITH CRAIG'S RECOVERY. NOW, ALL OF YOU GO GET SOMETHING FOR YOURSElVES, A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP RING! Craig, you dreamed of being a football hero, You are 'EVERYONES FOOTBALL HERO.'"

A Friend

Thank you for a wonderful article. I know Craig personally and as a family we are so proud of Craig and his accomplishments. His family is so amazing and are the inspiration that brought Craig back to us. Good Luck to the Layton Lancers!! They are the finest young men around. I personally witnessed many of these young men and coaches in the waiting room the day of Craigs accident. Their love and support were overwhelming. Coach Bachelor is one incredible guy also and the way he has made men out of these boys is to be commended. Thank you Layton Lancers for what you have done for Craig and especially for what you do out on the field. TAKE STATE !!!
