I feel that we should sue the athiest of america inc. they are treading on the freedom om myself and many others. I feel honored to see the crosses marking fallen officers. They gave their lives even for the people who dont believe in God. The people causing problems with these markers and also the prayer in school topic, are treading on a lot of peoples beliefs. I f they dont want prayer or dont want to sing christmas carols. they can plug their ears. There are a lot more people who want to see these things and hear these things. They are treading on our rights. If they dont like it they can get the hell out of our country and move somewhere they dont honor God and our fallen heros.

I am all for the separation of church and state but this is just nuts. I agree that there should not be nativity scenes or Ten Commandments displays on government lawns, etc. But a cross as a death marker? This clearly falls into the category of generic, not religious, use. American Atheists should be countersued for making the Highway Patrol use taxpayer money to defend itself.

I'm guessing that, being Utah, some percentage of these markers are for patrolmen who were LDS. Mormons generally avoid the use of crosses in churches, on headstones, and in jewelry. But I don't hear them objecting to the use of crosses to remember their fallen patrolmen.

It is so sad that we have nothing better to do with our time and money these days. My family comes from a long line of peaceofficer. We worrie everyday as our loved one's go out to help others. They put there life on the line for you and me everyday.
Why must one little group of people fight for a small symbol to be taken down. If you don't won't to see them then turn your head as you drive by. Most people don't even noticed them as the drive by, they are so far back from the road and people are do 70plus driving by them. If you were to poll utah's people and ask were they have seen these monument's Im sure most people would be a litte vague about were they are. These monuments mean something to a lot of people though. They stand for Truth, Honesty, Love, Compassion, Willness to serve our state and laying all that they had on the line for you and me.
When need to stop fighting for dump things and put are efforts into more practical issue's
This is so sad that it got this far.

I find it extreamly ironic that an Athiest group is even bringing up this issue when they claim to not believe in any religion. That is their right. However, I feel they should not waste tax payer money over the OPINION of another. I hope that the Judge in this case rules the markers to stay in place as they are a nice gesture to those who have given the ultimate sacrafice keeping Utah safe.

It is so sad that people have to invoke or force their beliefs upon others. Making a battle of what the first amendment protects for EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US! If the atheist group doesn't approve of the crosses, it is their right to an OPINION as an American citizen, but they DO NOT have the right to make other AMERICAN citizens bow to the atheist view. This country is so messed up anymore, CAN WE FIX IT? Only if petty stuff like this STOPS! No one person/group, secular or non-secular has the right to force others to agree to their opinions nor do they have the right to enforce it! People need to let people live their lives and get a life of their own!!!!! To many people have been oppressed and abused IN THIS COUNTRY, some by force others by choice. WHEN DOES IT STOP!!!!!!! People just don't know how to play well on the same playground or the same sandbox anymore. So many angry apathetic attitudes that causes a ripple effect that is far reaching and deeply damaging. Do they know that, or do they really even care? The atheist's sound overly narcissistic to me!

Certainly, Laura, you are not a Utah native and have not experienced the religious pressure FROM ONE GROUP here.

OH, PLEASE! Get over yourselves! Who are the VICTIMS here, anyway? Oh yeah, its those of you who sit around LOOKING for reasons to be offended. Quit crying and do something productive with your time. . . . MY WORD, if a cross offends you, then take notice of the mountains instead. . . . if the thought of a prayer offends you, then while someone else quietly prays, please spend that same time reassuring yourself how faultless and superior you are. . . . . wow, youre unbelievable!

I am so sick of these small minded, self centered groups of people who are trying to suck all the goodness and worthwhile things from this country and probably other countries as well.

Yes, you have free speech thanks to a country founded under God. You are a minority and it is time the majority starts fighting back and puts God back in the country. When that happens America will be greater than it has been in many years.

My son is in law enforcement and his life is on the line every day, even for you, but you probably don't even appreciate it. Those poor fallen men and women need to be honored and not forgotten. A cross can represent death, not just God. How sad when you go to a veterans cemetery and see the huge wave of crosses. If they want to put crosses out there for us to see and know the price paid by these officers and how many have died, that is little to ask.

Don't you people have something productive to do with your time besides being a thorn.
