My father was in the Marines during WWII. He survived, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. Later
in his years, he would question as to " Why he
was so lucky" to have lived through it all.
I still to this day am amazed as to how much
the Human Spirit, can endure. Yet the
scars, mostly unseen remain.

Thanks to Major Schade, his wife, and all those who sacrificed and continue to sacrifice to keep our country safe and fight evil. I am always mindful of what the "greatest generation" did for me and what veterans are doing today. Thanks to all who serve...

I enjoy my freedom and appreciate the service of Vets who paid with their lives so I can not fear oppression. Thank you very much! I often think of relatives who died in to preserve America. They are heroes! And examples to me. On this day, they are in my thoughts and prayers, as are all who fought and fight for our liberty and freedom. God bless you all!

A great big thanks to the men and women of that generation. It scares me to think what may have become of America and even the world had they not shown so much bravery, dedication and sacrifice. I hope to honor them by being a good citizen and raising my children to be the same. Words cannot say enough. Thank you and God bless.

I had the great priveledge of flying with 'Captain Jack' when I first was hired with Frontier Airlines. What an outstanding pilot and gentleman to learn the fine points of flying from....We had great times and fun days at Frontier. My father, BGen Alma Winn, as well as Jack, truly was part of this nations 'greatest generation' serving during WWII. We all owe so very much to these great men and should always pay tribute to their accomplishments and never forget what they did for all of us.

Your paper's wonderful recognition of Captain Jack Schade is sincerely appreciated. Jack was/is a wonderful mentor and I share Gary Winn's gratitude for the priviledge of flying with him for many years at the old Frontier. In fact, 37 years ago Jack & Alene witnessed our wedding in SLC. We treasure our long friendship with the Schade family.

Jack Schade hoped to pilot a B-17, but more B-17 pilots weren't required when he completed training.
