Sounds wonderful. Who wouldn't be against animal cruelty?
But if you read the details, it's essentially an animal-rights/evironmentalist manifesto. Same tired old Leftist nostrums with a cute puppy on the label.
I'm surprised they didn't include a pledge to fight Global Warming in it (although that is usually implied when these people bring up the term "unsustainable").
I will have to read the statement a couple more times as there is a lot there. I agree that we should avoid cruelty to animinals.
I am not sure how the statement would apply to events such as Rodeos, horse races or a circus.
The statement encourages a boycott of those who abuse their resources. I know places where it appears (on both public & private land) that it is overused. I also know of places that are well managed and certainly within the multiple-use objectives on public lands. I don't know where the meat etc. at the market comes from.
Wildlife, if not properly managed can overuse a resource. Recreational hunting is one management tool used to manage wildlife over populations. I am not sure how the statement views recreational hunting, even fishing.
Maybe re-reading it several time and other comments made here will help me decide if I want to put my name on it.
By the way, nanes on internet petitions are usually not effective since there is no way to determine if the signatures are OK, or if one person signed using 500 different names.
Perhaps we should treat our wildlife just as we treat our babies, only then will a change come and God will love us. Thanks.
World Concience, perhaps you should learn to spell before you try using sarcasm to criticize something you clearly don't understand.
Wow. As a UK citizen, I am totally amazed by these comments, particularly as they come from an area of the USA that I would have supposed to be caring and compassionate toward all God's creatures. As for me, as a member of Planet Earth I have signed, and I am wholly for the protection of all those without a voice to speak for themselves. One day we will live in a world where the lamb and the lion will lie down together - why aren't we working for that now?
