This is why Sloan is the best. A true leader and coach in every sense.

Kevin

Sloan is very over rated. He often gets out-coached in terms of match ups. He is a big reason super stars go off on us...he refuses to adjust defenses and take other teams out of what they want to do. His substitution patterns are inflexible and allows other coaches to plan match ups they like...not to mentions he effectively cools off his own players who are on a roll. His day has passed.

Jimmy's Sneakers

Jimmy is not a big fan of DWill resting so early in the 1st Quarter. Jimmy would usually rather keep him in there early and let Boozer rest first.

wow kevin

I'm glad you have no idea what you're talking about. Did you not read in the article how sloan saved several years for stockton? He knows exactly what he's doing and you and all the other ridiculous "fans" out there will be worshiping sloan when we still have williams ten years from now.

Sinan from Turkey

Mr DW have to decide what is 1st for him (or for the team) in the game. To assist ? or To shoot ? what i see that when he tries to do both of them then other's such as Memo, start to watch him and get cold. They may even be tired to understand his move will assist or shoot. One of the choices must be surprise for the oppenant. Regards.

Amacon

This won't be popular but I think we need to trade D-Will right now for Kirk Hinrich and Joe Smith of the Bulls. D-will isn't as good as everyone says and he will not extend with the Jazz. I would love to see Joe Smith in a Jazz uniform (finally, after months of speculation - and the AK47 for Joe trade rumors have cooled). Or maybe AK47 & JWill for Smith, Hinrich, and Gordon. Let's hope this happens!

Jazz fan

This is yet another reason why Deron is going to leave Utah as soon as he can. There's no way he stays 19 years, let alone 5 or 6. Hart hasn't shown that he deserves any minutes, yet Sloan gives him significant playing time. Collins just plain stinks, but Sloan thinks he is a reliable backup. Sloan is no longer the best fit for Utah.

play him more

I disagree play him now why he's young and can give us more. Did stockton bring us home a ring during all those extra years he played? Williams probably wont even stick around like stockton did. who would want to play for sloans structured offense anyways. Sloan is so predictable and i'm tired of his substitution pattern. He needs to give it up.

It's good to see the Jazz have rebuilt so fast. I remember John would get so mad at Jerry for taking him out of the games so early. John told me Jerry needed to stop controlling him and just let me play. John knew his body better then Jerry did. I think Deron problably feels the same way as John. Annoyed at the control freak coach, but he will appreciate him if he makes it to season 19, like my body John.

Chris

Amacon,

That's ridiculous - D-Will is 400 times better than Hinrich or Smith. If there is even a slight chance the Jazz can get him to stay they should take that chance. Down the line he will be one of the top 10-15 players in the league. He's smart, handles the ball well, and can score at will when he finds the groove. Where there is D-Will there is a Way - go Jazz.

Good Idea

Amacon you are a genius! I will get right on that.

sigh

I wish they'd take these comments away from y'all. I hate to say it but the comments here make less sense than most comments on sports talk radio, which are bad enough. Sloan is, by all accounts, a legendary coach who's trying desperately to get Jason Hart enough playing time so that when it really matters, in May and June, he has a reasonably strong bench to really compete. Yes, it means the Jazz probably won't win 60 games, but it also means that when the Jazz are up against real competition in the playoffs Jason Hart will be able to accomplish what Eisley, Brown, and plenty of other Jazz backups PGs have been able to do, and that is win, or help us win. D-Will is as good as people say he is, if he weren't we would've been eliminated by big bad T-Mac like everyone predicted we would be. So what if he beats us now? cCme May and June he'll be done, and we'll be through to the next round, again.

J-WIL

TRADE AWAY THE FUTURE OF THE JAZZ AND SOON TO BE BEST PG IN THE NBA FOR 2 GUYS WHO WOULDNT HELP US IN THE END???? SOUNDS REALLY SMART. ESPECAILLY SINCE WE HAVE BEEN BUILDING AROUND WILLIAMS AND BOOZER

Anonymous

Amacon have you even watched D-Will play? He IS as good as everyone says. He's what makes this team go. This teams looks lost when Hart is running the show.

TYLER

To "Amacon" In your sick twisted dreams we'll trade Williams! What are you thinking! There's no doubt in my mind he's the best point guard in the NBA and the leader of the Jazz that Heinrick or Smith will never be! And as far as trading AK47, NO! He's starting off the season well, passing, blocking, getting inside, steals, playing like that superstar we all once knew. What the Jazz really need to do is figure out the backup point situation.

JazzGiant

I think Amacon is a bulls fan. I'm sure everyone in Chicago would love the greatest player to every come of out U of I running their point. Furthermore - the Jazz can offer D-Will the largest and longest contract possible. Also, where is he going to go and be in as good of a position to win a championship as he is here? The established contenders don't need him (or can't afford what he will command), and all of the up and coming teams are going to have to re-sign their young stars to much larger contracts in the not so distant future. So unless the Jazz take a nose-dive this year, there should be no problem signing him to an extension.

RE:Amacon

You are crazy. D-will has said he wants his entire carreer to be in Utah and that he doesn't want to leave the players or coacjing staff that is here. D-will is just as good as everyone says and he will only get better.

Jimmy's what?

Jimmy, you should do a better job of controlling what your sneakers say. They're making you both sound ignorant. Just because there is an article about the Jazz, doesn't necessarily mean that your shoes are obligated to comment.

"Old School" Fan

Sloan's teams always exceed expectations. He loses Stockton/Malone in the same offseason and has the team back in the playoffs, contending again. He has been the only constant in the success of the franchise. Most of us blogging probably didn't even play HS b-ball and can't coach a winning Jr Jazz team, but apparently we know what's best for an NBA team.
If D-Will leaves, it will be because of idiotic fans, not because of a legendary coach that has a history of aiding Stockton become the best PG to ever play the game. If you want to critique a coach go post on the Atlanta Journal Constitution where the Hawks might be able to use your limited expertise.
While we don't have a title to show for it, we have enjoyed a team that's done very well over the past two decades. Since Sloan arrived no franchise has been better year in and year out. The Jazz are never picked to win divisions or make the playoffs, but Sloan always comes through. If your Jr Jazz team has had that much success for twenty years, feel free to continue your lame rantings.

Earl Boykins

Why don't the Jazz sign Boykins. He is fast and can keep the offense going for a few minutes at a time. EARL FOR THE BACKUP POINT GUARD>
