The Democrats are going to be so shocked when they wake up election day and find another Republican in the White House.

The hatred for the Clinton's in Utah is overwhelming.
Gives new meaning to the reddest state.
Red with rage.

Why is it that liberals cannot debate an issue without name calling and spewing the same typical rhetoric we hear from MoveOn and other leftists?

This was an article on the laughable 1500 people that attended Bill Clinton's speech.

Karen, HOW on earth has GWB ruined this country? Please explain. Last I checked we are still in the middle of a strong economy, we have continued to break records on Wall Street, unemployment is extremely low...and I could go on.

Clarkesq, what ideas is Bill Clinton pushing these days besides putting himself back in the White House?

ClintonFan, oh...so we here in Utah are backwards because we oppose someone's political agenda? That is deep. Please explain how the Clintons are AHEAD of their time.

Again, this is such a stupid article. Makes one wonder who actually approves these kinds of stories...Clinton a Hit. Right.
typical civil discourse | 11:07 a.m. Nov. 6, 2007
Notice how HoneyMaid above makes a lengthy case about what she thinks is right. And of course, this sort of type always leads with her "left." ie., "why is it that liberals ..."

This is the stuff that pundits like Limbaugh have championed for years and make years to undo.
And this is supposed to be "civil discourse" today.

Speaking as one who attended the U of U event, The Deseret News coverage of Clinton's speech was much better than the Tribs. I wish that a transcript of Clinton's U of U speech was available online. It would be great if the Deseret News would post online transcripts of speeches by major Republicans and Democrats, and or their surrogate, who visit Utah. The Deseret News has improved greatly under Joe Cannons editorship.

Just wondering why so many of the liberals view all conservatives as being Limbaugh fans. I am conservative on moral issues and think Limbaugh is a pompous wind bag. As for the Clinton's. Bill has some good attributes and some bad ones, just as Hillary does. It really boils down to how much weight you place on each of their attributes. For me, the number and weight of the negatives against Hillary far out number the positives. I truly feel she would be the worst of the candidates from either party to win. I don't feel much better about Obama if any.

Both democrats and repubicans spend too much time blasting each other that time is lost to do what they have been elected to do. Serve the people of this great country.
Ok "Never Happen" | 9:44 a.m. Nov. 7, 2007
But I think you have it in reverse. It's going to be the Republicans that wake up and realize that their party isn't in control. And "Red with Rage" hope you can calm that rage next year because you don't want to be angry for the next eight years.
It's very apparent to those of us that live in the real world that this country is very ready for a big change and a Repulican will not give us that.
Check outside the state of Utah at the comments in other newspaper and the media. You will see that "Red" is not going to make it anymore.

Rush Limbaugh proclaims to be the voice of conservatism. He is guru to many, many, many Utahns who faithfully listen to and emulate his caustic style and words each and every day. His outspoken hatred for the Clintons is legendary.

I have always seen this (caustic style) as a huge social problem. What he does so effectively is draw lines between people. And the word liberal is always in there someplace and is not designed as a compliment.

Since all we hear today is "conservatives are better than liberals" nonsense I would like to know:
1) why was the Webster's defintion of liberal hijacked and demonized from "of the people, free, abundant, progressive, open, tolerant of other views" to something close to satanic
and
2) Just what is it that conservatives are conserving?

Sherwood -
This culture loves to refer to itself as conservative. (the "good guys")
Rush Limbaugh says he is the voice of conservative America.
Thousands of Utahns listen to Limbaugh bash "liberals" (the "evil guys") in almost every statement.
"Liberals" is code for Democrats today.
With me so far?
Why Would We Vote for Her? | 2:01 p.m. Nov. 7, 2007
Apparently some people don't live in the 21st century yet where people aren't judged by their gender. I would/will vote for Hillary because of her ideas, experience and not because she is a woman, but because I think she would make a good president.

Lynn:has "hillary ever balanced a check book?"

maybe not, but she has NEVER bankrupt two companies prior to becoming president and now the ENTIRE country!!!! Do your research and post an intelligent comment!

Saying Rush Limbaugh is the "Voice of Conservatives" is just as ridiculous as saying Rosie O'Donell, Tom Brokaw, or any other far left celebrity with access to the media, is the "Voice of Liberals." Both un-true and overgeneralizing.

"The Voice of Conservatism" is in fact what Rush Limbaugh calls himself.

Thousand of Utahns tune in and every day religiously to hear him attack "liberals", the "liberal media" and his all-time favorite, The Clintons.

Judging by the very same caustic style and subject matter of a lot of the postings on this blob I'd say he is effective on certain angry, frightened types.

The "voice of conservatism" IS in fact what Rush Limbaugh calls himself. His nasty style, constant attack on liberals, the liberal media and the "drive-by media" plus his hatred for The Clintons is legendary.

Thousands of loyal fans (and parrots) reside in Utah and judging from the caustic, angry style of some of these posting, these same people don't know what hate-filled people they have morphed into.
Liberal voice doesn't matter | 10:17 a.m. Nov. 9, 2007
Utah Liberals,

Don't waste your time, money, energy or comments supporting Hillary--it doesn't matter!! A Democrat will NOT win the nomination in Utah.

Either move to another state or use your time productively. Start a book club or something.

I live in Illinois, where a Republican will not win.
Neocon Nate | 12:19 p.m. Nov. 9, 2007
Yer right Illinois liberal.

But ya know why a liberal will never win in Utah?
It's because them dang liberals are god-less commies, who want everyone to get an abortion, get married to the same sex, want to tax-and-spend this proud country into hades, burn all the flags up, make Christmas disappear, make are kids hug trees, sing that stupid Kumbaya song, and ... and ...
wait a minute ... I gotta go listen to what Rush has to say but I'll be right back with more stuff that will prove who is the best American ...
