Secondly, lets revisit our constitution and the creation of our federal government. It was created to protect our freedom and liberty from enemies foriegn and domestic. Never was it created to educate the masses, to provide for the poor, to redistribute wealth, to unarm its citizens, to take over our hospitals, etc.
I am not for federal control and power over states and individuals. However, if a New England state wants to try complete Hillary-style socialism and see where it takes them going to this "older" style of government then go for it. I wish we would go more to our New style of government of which our founding fathers beilieved in. Lets go BACK to trying something new.
I have really enjoyed your posts - logical and reasonable. I believe most people no longer vote straight party lines (at least no one I know does), they vote the canidate. My problem is, it is getting increasingly difficult to believe the promises made during a campaigne. Because once in office, we frequently discover some "promises" were perhaps unrealistic. I haven't found a reliable way to separate the realistic promises with the polictical reteroic. Any help with that?
The Clintons are deceptive and are hiding.
The fact of the matter is this serious, people need to think about what she is saying, and the potential for disaster it will invoke on all of us. I agree with you let's try it on New England, make them a separate country for 20 years as an experiment, and then see what happens. All the libs that think it will work why not give it a try...not trying to kick you out or anything. Just tired of having social medicine, increased tax rates and evil republicans shoved down my throat.
Romney/Lieberman 08
'Red' Utah has let you down. We do think here. Oddly enough, we vote standards, not who's the prettiest. And we certainly don't vote just because we feel sorry for someone. I won't be voting for Hillary Clinton because she's incompentent, and riding on husband's coattails, not on her own wind. She has zero experience in running anything, not even a home. She's always had something I've never had - help with cleaning, cooking and someone else (nanny) to raise the kids. If her greatest qualification is that she's a woman, then were in BIG trouble. Electing a woman is fine with me. Just make her qualified. Hillary is not qualified.
It is worth mentioning, I think, that of the front runners in the Democratic field, no candidate has been divorced. Among the top Republican candidates, all but Mitt Romney has been divorced. So which is the real party of family values? Say whatever you want about the Clintons...they figured out what works for them, they kept their marriage together, they raised a bright daughter who lives her life without getting arrested, publicly drunk etc.
Can Fred Thompson or John McCain or any of the rest make that claim?
The Bush/Clinton pattern of leadership needs to be busted up. If Mrs. Rodham Clinton gets elected that would mean this country will probably have to endure her for 8 years, which means the Bushes and Clintons sat in the power for 28 years!
If Bill Clinton says his wife is the right choice to run this country and Americans buy into it and vote for her, our country's demise is going to be rapid. Those individuals throwing money at her campaign are not thinking about the externalities of her presidency and how they will impact our culture and safety. If you want to view what a future Hilary presidency would be like--go look at the Labour Party in England for the last 10 years. The UK is like chromed rust, bright on the outside and rotting on the inside.
Why go from the American system to the European system when ours has yeilded more to human inginuety and civility than any other government or culture?
Thats a good example of a totally thoughtless claim. More civility? You mean more money. Next you said,

Lets think now. The United States is not at risk of foreign attack. Seriously, we have sufficient armed forces to take care of ourselves. What are the issues in America today?
Poor distribution of wealth, poorer health than other developed countries, poor education, violence and intolerance. Lets not be looking back at our founding fathers so much that we ignore whats happening in our nation right now.
Not inhaling is a waste of a good joint. Let's hope Hillary will do better.
Say what you want about him and his morals... he actually cares about people and wants to help them.
Hillary on the other hand is a very cold distant person who treats those around her with distain. She is always doing what is best for Hillary regardless of what it means to other people.
Finally, this friend of mine said that their marriage, at least at this point (Early to mid 1990's), is nothing more than a power marriage to help both of their careers.
Take it for what its worth... I am just some random guy on the internet, who knows a guy, who said...
Ans: Bill Clinton, who else?
No funny. John Kennedy appointed his brother US Attorney General.
The Clinton's don't have it.
When you say things like "Bush has done a great job" and "What is wrong with citizens who continually criticize our PResident?" You should know that NOTHING is wrong with that. America was set up in a way where we have freedom of speech.
Ity was designed so that if President Bush thinks we need to attack another country and tells us that if he didn't, we would be in danger, we could say "No, that's obviously not true." Bush is not a King or Prophet. He is a politician, and we shouldn't put him on a pedastal because we love our Nation.
If we really love this nation, we will be upset when our leader does things we don't approve of. Regardless of wether or not they want to hear what we have to say.
Personally I feel offended when people sell themselves as "vote for me cause I'm Godfearing." Show me. I would love to have a moral, religious president, but I honestly can't stand it when people just say they are and sell themselves as "God's President." Act like one, don't tell me that you're one.
How much money did members of the LDS church along the Wasatch Front actually donate in tithing and fast offerings?
How many people attended the BYU football game on Saturday and purchased overpriced food, drinks and other items?
It's a silly thing to say Bill Clinton is a hit. A BYU football game the day before kicked his butt in attendance and in money spent. The same day, the local churches kicked his butt in attendance and money donated.
If you want sanity and reason in governement and world relations, just THINK about Hillary. That's not asking too much is it?
Then there's the other kind.
This was a chance for the State to take another step out of the 19th century toward where the rest of the world is headed!
So my efforts are not spent in that direction. But doesn't mean I can't enjoy the frothing of the collective mouths here.
Put hate aside. This man has some great ideas and is doing great work with his foundation and other initiatives.
What exactly is "ruined" about our country? We are the envy of the world. We are the most powerful and feared nation on the earth. Our economy is strong. Our way of life is rich and fulfilling. People are actually free to pursue their interests without fear of being exterminated because they oppose the state religion or the military power. The Arts are thriving. Education and literacy are increasing every day. Need I go on?
"Republican-ites" must invoke paranoia and a pessimistic outlook in order to demonize their opposition. Living like kings as we are, however, makes it tough to swallow such misinformation.
Your article states without reference and considerable ambiguity that Hillary Clinton worked with several GOP leaders to get legislation passed. How do we know that? Give me an example. Oh, never mind. In the end, it's irrelevant. Senators do that. So how is she different?
You also state that she won the vote of many long-time New York Republicans to get elected. How relevant and how true is that? Do you have names? Are you saying she was miraculously elected to office from a state that never elects Democrats?
If you don't include references, you're only giving opinions. Opinions I can get on the editorial page. On page one, please give me the facts.
