I decided to go to the 5A State Finals. Boy those LP kids can play. It was entertaining.

Great job LP.

American Fork Fan

Great to see Lone Peak prevail over Skyline in the finals. Too bad American Fork couldn't have been there.

good job lone peak i only wish that viewmont was out there playing you not skyline, we are so much better than them.

Coach Meyer and LP Rules!

Congrats to the LP girls on a great season, undefeated in Utah play! They did a fantastic job and play hard and with class. Led by Lacey Lacock the LP girls have done some good charitable work as well and helped Lehi (kudos to those girls and their coaches as well) with another fund raising effort to help the less fortunate. Competing well but with the eye to help others and serve other, this is what sport should be all about.

Skyline played a great final and great tournament and hats off to them. They have a very good program.

For LP and Coach Deanna Meyer it was their fifth straight time to the state title game, coming away with their third state volleyball title. Coach Meyer has established herself as one of the coaching greats not only in volleyball but Utah sports history. Kudos to her, her staff and these great athletes!

Great job Lone Peak and best of luck next season!

LP State Champ

Lone Peak faced a very worthy opponent in the finals. Skyline was a competitive team and the toughest team that we faced in Utah all season. LP was very fortunate to have lots of great players come into the LP system that had been well prepared by great club coaches. We were also very privileged with great assistant coaches, without them we would not have taken state.

We would not have had a perfect season if not every single person on the team contributed in great ways. There are many players on our team that are capable of playing each position well. It was good that we could utilize each persons greatest strength in order for many players to participate on the court.

I believe our teams mental game was the greatest factor of our success. We were able to shut out many distractions that could have destroyed a great team. The trials that we overcame throughout the season are what gave us the final strength to come out on top. Hopefully we proved to Utah that we deserved to maintain our perfect season. What a memorable season it has been. I thank all my teammates and congratulate them all!

go eagles

GO SKYLINE! WE STILL ROCK

Good game LP

Anyone but Fremont

Congrats to Lone Peak, great match. And truthfully never faced anyone worthy, as they were superior to everyone else. Sure wished I could have seen you beat up on Fremont though...

JUST A THOUGHT!

I think that lots of money leads to lots of opportunities that leads to lots of training. Lone Peak has the ability to have all three. They had a great season, but they can all afford to be on the very best club teams and they have some great assistant coaches that come from the club teams. It is kind of like an all-star team. So, any coach should win with them.

Reply to JUST A THOUGHT!:
It is not always the case that families in the Lone Peak area are wealthy. My sister played on the team there for the first four visits to the state tournament and my family had to make some sacrifices to allow her to play on club teams. That said, I think that in most cases if a family is willing to sacrifice enough any talented girl could have the opportunity to play for those good club teams.

FYI--

Coach Meyer built the Lone Peak program...period. When she arrived at Lone Peak, the volleyball program was rock bottom, they hadn't qualified for state in its first four years and maybe had double digit wins total over that same period.

She put the club program together and she has great club coaches. She brought in the clinicians for her summer camps.

She put her assistant coaches together. She chooses these coaches. She has had many coaching changes over the years including one of her best assistants going to coach Brighton HS and then on to college coaching. Her main assistant coach has changed a few times as they have moved on.

Still, the Lone Peak program has plugged on. A lot of programs have great club programs and money including Highland, Cottonwood, Skyline, Pleasant Grove, Viewmont etc. etc. etc. But NONE of them have made the state championship game five years in a row. That's consistency and that is the result of great coaching along side great talent. But great talent is not enough to win like that.

I hope the Lone Peak patrons know they have a gem of a coach who built this program from scratch.

The Voice of Reason???

So just anyone could coach Lone Peak and they would win?

How come they didn't do that before the current coach arrived?

If they have all this money, facilities, etc., how come other programs in the school don't make the championship game every year?

Let's say for arguments sake that Coach Meyer didn't know a lick about volleyball, well she should be praised for at least having the ability to attract good coaches into her program. Don't the Head Coaches pick who's on their staff?

Doesn't Coach Meyer coach club herself? Is it likely she's been involved in the off-season training of many of her athletes?

The voice of reason tells me that this coach knows what she is doing. LP didn't do anything before she arrived, she got her team to the finals five years in a row and I'm not sure any other coach in any other sport has done that recently. If that previous post is accurate Lone Peak won nearly 30 games this season, more so than the four seasons combined before her arrival.

But YES, her players, their parents, the other club coaches, her assistant coaches all deserve kudos and praise, congrats LP Volleyball!

Club, schmub!

No matter how gifted an athlete is, how much money their parents spend on club teams, or what extra opportunities each individual is given, it still takes a coach to put them together to make a team. Coach Deanna Meyer is tops at putting the individuals together to make them mentally prepared, top conditioned and a well-trained team. She knows her stuff and loves her girls!

Leave it to a few snippy Lone Peak wanna-be stars to throw sour grapes after such an awesome season. Maybe you would fit in better somewhere else --AF maybe? They're good at taking the all-about-me-me-me players.

LP is very lucky to have Coach Meyer and the unselfish athletes that won the championship. Congratulations, Coach and girls!

way to be Lone Peak and Skyline. you did awesome all season and finally got to the final game. you all have a lot of heart! way to be this year!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to congratulate Coach Meyer and the LP volleyball team for taking state, it was well deserved.
Lp is a great team and they are lucky that Deanna came there because to be honest she build that program to where it is today. LP has never been to state or has placed in region before Coach Meyer got there.
She is an awesome coach and yes, it does take a great coach to put talented players together and make them into an awesome team.
Coach Meyer coached my daughter at Granger and build that program up too. I want to congratulate my niece Chelsea Faalogo at Skyline for a great season as well.
As for the comment about AF, not all the girls are like that, My niece Rae is the setter there and she is not that way, she's always trying her best to do her part to help her team out.
So, please don't hate just appreciate the great coaching and talented players that make up this wonderful sport.
