Doesn't this arrangement violate the first amendment? That's what Rocky would say. Especially since the soldiers are actually cleaning up, they are contributing labor to the church and violating the establishment clause.
Why can't the members leave the buildings spotless after they use the building. Members learn from this example.
It is exactly what Rocky would say. A violation of Church/State. Oh well, Thank the heavens that he is gone....but, SLC is known for electing idiots....even in far off SoCal we had a constant stream of negative press regarding your infamous 'woman' (use that loosely) mayor. But it won't happen in San Diego. Marines at Pendleton, Navy at San Diego and still the AF reserve at March. We love the Military and they can stay in our homes as well as our churches. Too bad the grossly liberal press of the LATimes won't get a story like this published. Tragedies like this fire normally bring most americans together, and bring out the best in us. It is sad that we can't have more articles and newscasts that share these events that show Americans are united and good. Unfortunately we are subjected to painted up faces, under bright lights in front of cameras, telling us it is all due to Global Warming, or a Presidents failure to act or some political party's agenda. Keep up the good work DN and please don't ever allow pressure from your National syndicates to pressure you into reporting garbage.
If anyone thinks this is anything other people helping people in a time of need, they would find imaginary fault in EVERYTHING. This article is uplifting because it shows our troops are good men, and it shows we have good citizens willing to serve those who serve our country.
Hey, when they leave Escondido, can they come and stay at my ward for awhile? :~D
Zion in action!! I love it!!
This article is further evidence of why the staff of the New Republic, and the urbane liberal caste from which they are drawn, are nincompoops.
(A little background: The respected liberal magazine The New Republic recently ran a story by a soldier named Thomas Beauchamp, stationed in Iraq, in which Beauchamp painted a picture of himself and his fellow soldiers as callous, cruel, warped individuals. After a huge number of soldiers called bull on Beauchamp -- agreeing unanimously that anyone who had, as Beauchamp claimed he had, mocked a female soldier disfigured by burns to her face in a public dining facility, would have summarily pounded black and blue by his colleagues -- Beauchamp recanted, explaining that he wanted to be "the next Hemingway," and had either invented his stories outright or placed himself at the center of military "urban legends."
The thing is that a particular type of liberal (not YOU guys, all y'all who are racing to keyboards in outrage) lacks any familiarity with actual soldiers. Single men in barracks may not grow into plaster saints, but the present American military is probably the most gentlemanly and professional force this nation has ever fielded.
First of all Hooah!! 2nd thanks stake president and ward members and 3rd thanks community for helping.
