I love the spirit of service of the members of this Church. it is impressive that it was a member initiated relief effort, not a church effort. The church has also provided relief as it should, but to think of 100 dozen cookies baked, what a lesson for the children and for the community.
"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me" Matt, 25:40
The Latter-day Saints many times get criticized and mis-understood by others who don't understand them.
But one thing is FOR SURE, they do help others when others are Down....
It was King Benjamin, one of the Great Book of Mormon Heroes, who made the famous quote, "When you ARE in the the Service of your Fellow Beings, You
Are Only in the Service of Your God."
I believe I quoted that fairly accurately. It was done from memory, without looking it up. Don't have a copy of the Book of Mormon handy right now near this computer.
I believe, if memory serves correctly, that the quote is in the Book of Mosiah.
It's good that the Latter-day Saints do Live up to this great ideal and standard.
It would be nice if the liberal media would report more on the the good things we as a church do instead of opening up old wounds such as mountain meadows, and polygamy.
