"The county reluctantly gives a Jordan School District split the go-ahead." Actually, the State Legislature met in a Special Session called by Gov. Huntsman and changed the law to bypass the Salt Lake County Council.
The Council did not vote on the Granite split, because the same Special Session did not address funding equalization.
A County Council vote was not required to put the Jordan split on the ballot. The esteemed legislators merely did and end-run around the Council.
