Do nothing about property taxes at your own peril. Comprehesive taxation reform is past due. Simplify into School Tax (replacing income tax and up to 75% of "property tax"). Make all other "taxing entities" separate and remove them from "Property Tax". And simplify Property Taxes by going to an acquistion value based system using COLA automatic assessement adjustments. Save hundreds of millions by eliminating ineffective and incompetent "Assessor Offices". Do this or face thousands marching on the Capital and Governors mansion. It seems we have come full circle from 1776 to 2006.

This kind of makes you wonder how Utah can justify the use of $429 million dollars over the next 13 years for a voucher program that will, by and large, benefit people who never intended to send their kids to public school.

Our state obviously has tremendous needs. Money for the voucher program will come from the general fund - diverting money away from other, much more pressing issues.

All right haters - pile on now!
