Hip, hip, hooray for open space! It's a much needed decision where we all can find oneself's solitude within a walk away from the busy daily routine. Kudos to SLC!

I'm also glad to see the preservation of open land. However, my question is "why didn't the city and county think it was important enough to preserve the land know as Ensign Peak, (located behind the capitol)? I remember when I attended West High School, we use to have a big "W" on the hill just below Ensign Peak (just like Highland has the "H" on what is called the "H" hill, however our tradition was to have a bon fire and burn the "W" each homecoming and graduation). Ensign Peak has historical value to our city, yet developers have been allowed to develop the land near Engisn Peak, and I suspect its only a matter of time before the actual monument will be surrounded by homes. Isn't that land just as important to maintain as an open space?

Is this the first good thing that Rocky has done as mayor?
