Why aren't they calling for a reduction in energy use? Our is the most consumptive society on earth. A 10% reduction isn't going to cut it for fighting global warming. I challenge every reader to reduce your miles driven by 50%, and to read your utility bills, and find ways to reduce your units consumed by 20%. These are direct ways we can reduce our energy use. An indirect way is by buying locally grown and produced goods, which reduces the fuel costs of shipping. Fill a reusable bottle and stop buying bottled water, which consumes fossil fuels in the production of the bottles, and in the transporting of them to market. Raising of animals for meat releases huge quantities of methane into the air, which is much more harmful than CO2. If you are not inclined to go vegetarian, try reducing your meat consumption by a day or two a week. Besides taking an active role in the solution, you will also find more money in your wallet at the end of each month.
