The answer to "who will benefit from removing the voucher program" is "the people who are currently feeding from the public trough."

The kids certainly won't get anything out of it, except more-of-the-same, cookie-cutter, as-slow-as-the-slowest-pupil union indoctrination.

And that's the GOOD part!

Mr Harmon questions the self-interest of unnamed financial interests in school voucher debate. But that presumes that the private schools are for-profit entities and that's not always the case. At a deeper level he questions anyone's self-interest in the debate, which is fair. So let's ask this: what self-interest do public schools, public school administrators, and public school teachers, and the teacher's unions have in the status quo?

Concerned Grandparent

How many of our pro-voucher legislators would benefit from having vouchers? How many have children/grandchildren attending private schools? How many have financial interests in private schools?

Toss Vouchers and Legislators

Good questions. I thinks you will find many in the state legislature stand to financially benefit.

I understand that Home schoolers would qualify and unaccredited private schools would qualify for vouchers. My question and concern is, when a young man or young woman graduates from one of these unaccredited schools and wants to go on to college and the college does not accept their grades then what are they going to do?

Wealthy

The big loosers if vouchers win are the wealthy who will now have to share REAL education with the poor so vote no so my kids get the education they deserve. Thank you

Wow

Wealthy, you make the real bottom line in the voucher issue so perfectly clear. We really shouldn't fund your choice out of the public coffers. Our kids might have done each other some good if you'd let them learn together. Shame on your attitude.

James

Wow, do you not get a little sarcasm?

And for how legislators will benefit, offer us proof. Give me a legislator that is lined up to make money off of vouchers. Just one. And if you want to paint of picture of greedy legislators driving ferrari's, drinking apple cider in Paris, etc. Can you explain how this can be done on an average of less than $3k per child? And if you can do that please run for office. If you can squeeze wealth out of that small voucher you need to be resetting the budgets for the bloated Union system.

And for the concerned grandparent, this voucher is phased in so no wealthy person with children in private school currently would benefit from it. It is impossible. You need to read the bill.
