No Child Left Behind still a must, Bush says

Could you imagine having been Bush's English teacher back in grade school? I bet she/he tried very hard to teach him properly, but some kids won't make the standard regardless of the teacher's quality. Bush is a poster child of why the law has flaws. He even married a teacher and still hasn't mastered English with probably hundreds of hours of remedial help.

The good thing though is that any child, no matter their education can become President of the United States.
The Flaws I see | 11:48 a.m. Oct. 10, 2007
The flaws that I currently see with NCLB are as follows:

First: funding. This is a federal law, so they need to step it up in the funding area.

Second: Advancement of the arts and critical thinking areas of education. One of the major flaws of the law is that it puts a premium on the "objective" areas of study. While I will not argue that Science, Math, and Reading are unimportant, I am troubled at the emphasis that is placed in this law on standardized testing. There are some areas of learning, specifically the arts and rhetorical/critical thinking (also known as common sense areas), that cannot be tested in a standardized manner, and I think that because of this they are hegemonicaly being pushed aside as unimportant. How this can be addressed, I don't know.

Third: the law, in it's current form, is not addressing the minority issues that it originally claimed to address. The "gap" is continuing at the same pace that it was before the institution of the law.

How 'bout if we switch budgets between education and Department of Defense? That should do it.
