Democrats playing politics? How about Republicans trying to run an ideological scare campaign. All this talk of socialized this and that. Why not de-scocialize water? What's not socialistic about medicine. We already have it! It's just socialized in favor of drug and health insurance companies. Now it's time that medicine is for the benefit of people. How much do we pay for research in the first place, and then in sky-high prices protected by patents and copyrights. Name-calling is a poor substitute for reason Mr. Editor.

Pres. Bush must sit down with Congress and hammer out a viable compromise on this bill. CHIP will be a better program if other states are forced to take adults off the program and if CHIP is allowed to remain more like private coverage rather than Medicaid coverage. Pres. Bush needs to act now if he wants to have an impact on the program. Otherwise, Congress will push off the decision until the next administration. If Pres. Bush is concerned about "socialized" care, imagine what CHIP will look like in the hands of Pres. Hillary Clinton and a Democratic Congress in 2009.

It's ok to use kids, if your a democrate makeing a politcal point, and not solid policy. Bush funded SChIPS, but democrates want more and will drag us into National health before you know it. I hope the pres holds fast and funds it to current levels. Oh, by the way, my husband and I don't have health care, because we pay for our kids insurance. BUT, when we get sick, we go to the doc, pay for an office visit (about 80 bucks) and were done. My husand and I make less than 50K a year.

How about we DE-FUND the war by the amount of the SChPS? That way we get two things we want? And Queen, why do you so often feel the whole world needs to know about your situation?

How about we write our Representatives and tell them to override the veto? Oh, wait, that yould be Joe's brother who we would have to write. I really feel like the Deseret Morning News can no longer be thought of anything else but a propoganda publication for the Republican Party. I don't know if this is new since Joe Cannon took over the Editor desk; but I feel that it's bad for Utah, bad for the Republican Party, and bad for the Church.

Please stop the partisan hacking.

Joe is a bigger person than that. He's partisan and biased towards his brother, but he has his own sense of loyalty, his own (mossback) views, but an abiding sense of fair play and his duty to readers of this mewspaper. Selling Joe short will reduce resources available to accomplish this (SChip) or any other noble cause.
