Bus riders give UTA routes 'F'
7 comments | Read story
Tried the 207 - 700 East bus one day to see if it was better. That bus is supposed to be an every 20 minute bus. After waiting 35 minutes two 207 buses arrived bumper to bumper.
And what happened to weekend and night ride service. Scarce and very limited.
UTA has not created an imporved system for our family. It has created a big mess.
We all boarded. Then the bus driver got off the bus and we sat there for another fifty minutes.
Finally in my frustration I decided to stop my trip and just go back home to downtown. There was no explanation given to the riders waiting, no explanation why it was so late or why we were waiting there.
UTA has only created a bigger problem for all transit users in this valley. It's time for John Inglish to get the message that he is no longer doing his job the right way. He needs to go.
Before TRAX UTA claimed to have nearly the lowest cost per passenger mile in the industry.(Fall 1998 "Transition" UTA mailer)
Check the 2005 UTA Annual Report; UTA's cost per passenger mile is listed as the highest among all mid sided bus systems.
About 200,000 free and highly discounted ride pass holders have helped bus and TRAX ridership to seem much better than it would be if riders paid full fare for their trips. Just another UTA scam...
Just 2 years ago, these 2 streets were very well covered schedule wise, but over the last 2 years, UTA has 'tweeked' their schedules so much, they've 'tweeked' their riders right out of the picture!
It's not a wonder that their ridership numbers (i.e; those of us who depend on mass transit) continually fall when these route schedules are constantly being changed or dropped altogether.
UTA is not dependable either for timely schedules that get us to/from work on time, nor in coverage in areas that truly need to be riding the bus in order to save fuel and the economy.
