I agree! You are a representative of JESUS CHRIST. Would you pose like that if
HE were physically in front of you watching you do that? Put your shirts back on
elders and win souls by your words of truth and the content of your character
and not by your bodies.
Looks like they're trading their Temple recommends for a few pounds of flesh.
I'm sure their venture will be successful and profitable in this world and will
open many doors to them. When they finally mature, they might not like so much
what's on the other side of that door and regret what they've left behind and
can never re-capture. How will they explain those pics to their kids?
I agree. When a young man, or young woman, represent themselves as missionaries
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, they need to remember who
and what they represent. Their lack of maturity reflects negatively on them,
their families, and the Church they represent.
Agreed. How sad to see returned missionaries in sexy shots. If their intention
is to make Mormons known, is this the way we want to be known? What is the next
step? A Sister Missionary calendar inspired by the Pirelli calendar? So much for
being chaste.
What is this? Where did you find this ihave never even heard of it. If true
though I think that's really wrong for returned missionaries who have been to
the Temple and all that to pose for pictures like that. Yeah it might be funny
if it was an inside joke that the public didn't see, but I'm not sure that is
sending the right message to young ladies who are looking for a returned
missionary.
Julie, you DO sound like an 18th century spinster! Of all the problems in the
world about which to write a letter to the editor, you must ask yourself, "Why
did a little bare missionary flesh bother me so much?"
We live in a world of appearances. Things are not always what they seem.
Righteous-appearing people are seldom as righteous as their appearances might
suggest; likewise, the "other" kind of people are seldom as "other" as might be
supposed. We are all only human. The differences between these RMs and Jamie,
Carole, HLB, and Cyber.anna are hardly worth trying to measure or compare.
I am astounded at the tolerance shown by comments on this site as to what these
missionaries have done. Even using the words "Mormon Missionaries" associated
with this calendar has brought shame on our church. I've seen references to
this calendar on celebrity websites with the most foul comments. It has become
a joke. When will it show up on Letterman? Shame on these missionaries for
associating the church with this garbage. It's complete negative attention and
an embarrassment. I'm no Molly Mormon either...and I live in the
"missionfield", no longer in Utah, and I've seen what is said about it by many a
Mormon and non-Mormon alike. What stupidity in these guys putting themselves
out there in such a seductive and worldly manner. I'm disgusted.
I think it is horrible that people representing the LDS church are showing off
like that--the Church represents puritanical values and complete orthodoxy. To
allow free will like this is just tragic. If the God who judges us all is
forgiving, then She can be the one to decide if this was a good or a bad thing.
Lets see, what was that part about your church something about not judging and
leaving that to some common judge in Israel? If its a problem, leave it up to
their Bishops.
I am generally pleased with what words have been said here as they generally
reflect a no-nosense stalwart LDS viewpoint. I must say ,however, to Richard
that regardless of how small it may seem that it is something that true
Christians must frown upon. Moreover it really is not small. Sin is sin and
Julie is no spinster- she is sound of mind and calling the calender what it is-
"Garbage"
Who even knows if these guys are LDS? And judging them for taking off their
shirts. Really, don't we all have something else to do? I do all of my
planning through Outlook.
Judging by the number of comments agreeing with this letter, I must say, as a
non-Mormon, hey guys and gals, your reaction to a little bare male chest
(nothing more risque) shows why you and your church have a bit of a humorless
image problem -- along with complaints about newspaper lingerie ads, tabloid
covers at the grocery checkout, newspaper photos of gymnasts doing the splits
and -- in the caes of a friend who works at a public service job -- a Molly
Mormon who came up to complain about my friend's co-worker, "Her nipples are
showing through her shirt!"
Again, my question, why the proccupation
with the slightest whiff of anything sexual? Methinks thou protest too much.
I'm appalled at the sexophobia demonstrated by most of the commenters here. The
fear of the body which many seem to proclaim is not holy, scriptural or healthy.
Good grief!! THese are NOT nude shots.
Too many people are trying to
certify their own righteous -- in Shakespeare's terms to "out-Herod Herod."
Lighten up. Get a life. And for heaven's sake if you don't like the
calendar, DON'T buy one!! Free market economics!
My old friend Jeddy
Thunder has a good observation above about "appearances."
Richard, if you understood the temple covenant we make you might not be so hard
on our "preocupation" with anything sexual. This is something sacred to us.
I saw the website promoting this calendar. I felt very uncomfortable
while viewing...just the ad.
Anybody that wants to look at a calendar named "Mormon's Exposed", deserves what they get.

The letter is right on the mark.

I had a really great pun for this one, but I figure i'd better not...it might not only tout sex but suggest how...
Anyway, lighten up. These guys are supposed to now be at the stage wherein they get married and cause a litter of young...sex may be involved.

This calendar is a play on words. Mormons exposed can also read "Mormon Sex Posed".
