At one time we had it all! Now we are struggling aganst the likes of Sierra Club and their ilk to get it back. I think it is great to see the Light Rail, Commuter Rail, and everything else come in, yes even the Legacy Parkway is a good thing-three years late- thanks a lot Sierra Club!
I can't stand a bunch of low life tree huggers from Califorina and tell US how to run OUR state! Build all the roads and rails we need (Sierra Club be damned!) Theyr'e not paying for it yet they want to see us pay top dollar for their lawsuits!

Yeah, heaven forbid we have somebody looking out for the environment. BTW, the Sierra Club actually is for rail transportation, not against.

Legacy Parkway is a wonderful middle way solution. It satisfies the car drivers but is also designed to respect some of Utah's few remaining wetlands. I don't know what kind of world Mr. Lansing wants our grandkids to live in, but I'd prefer one where they can see the full glories of God's creation, not just a strip of dead concrete. If there had been no delay in the construction of Legacy Parkway, you'd now have the highway as originally proposed by Leavitt and his highway crew. That Legacy Highway, so very different from the Parkway now building, would have created immeasurable loss of wetlands and nothing worthwhile saved for our children.

Bamberger did not "chug." It was an electric as modern as Trax. It died prematurely due to our road building binge following WW II. UTA is building Frontrunner right, but Bamberger is still the standard.

funny...
the other day to see FrontRunner (commuter "heavy" rail) doing it's test run between Farmington and Centerville all the while belching out plumes and clouds of diesel smoke less than a 100 yards from the Legacy 'parkway' which will have a rubberized surface to ensure the wildlife isn't disturbed. Guess it's okay for the ducks to inhale diesel vapors.
