AK is a great guy but I couldn't trade places with him. So... sorry all you Jazz fans.. I am a Sun for life.

I love reading the coments on this board and those being stated on the radio. They make me bang my head against the wall. We do not live in a fairltale world. The NBA just like every other job is a business. To say that AK is beign selfish
is hipicritical and lacks any kind of perspective!

If at your job you were really good (All star material)Promoted and given a heafty salary. Then a few years later you were downgraded and not given the chance to show your full potenial. Would you not be pissed and want to move on and show your old boss's you still have it and that they are not utalizing you right.
Or like many of you want AK to do "just be a team player" and be content being under utalized!

I know AK has his difincinces (shooting) but he need to go somewhere and he shoulg go somewhere where his talents will be better utalized and he can play more of na uptempo game where he can slash and fastbreak to the basket.
Best of Luck AK.

Let the ungratiful cry baby go he is not the only fish in town
RE: Primetime | 5:03 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
Your point is well taken, except that AK is not paid the big bucks(or promoted as you put it for his offensive skills). He is paid to do the other things. It's AK that doesn't like what he's been "promoted" to, a defensive specialist. Sloan never told him to stop rebounding or cutting to the basket. Sloan never told AK to stand on the perimeter and never move, allowing his defenders to clog up the paint. Sloan's offense is dessigned to stop the paint from being clogged and get easy baskets. It's AK's mentality that stopped him from playing hard because he was no longer getting the plays ran for him on offense. AK just needs to realize that he got "promoted" for doing other things than getting the points. If he wanted to play within the JAzz's system, he actually would get more points and he'd be happier....So who's problem is it? I thik AK just got a big boost to his ego winning MVP in Euro and because of that he thinks he got his "promotion" because of his ability to score. AK could be successful, but he needs to learn and accept what his role is, defense.

18 pts for Russia = 8 pts for the Jazz (and likely any other team in the NBA)

Stay in Russia you baby!!
See Ya | 5:53 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
AK you will learn what life in the NBA is like without the JAZZ. Just ask Shandon Anderson.
AK loyal fan shifting to DWill | 6:14 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
AK is an exciting player to watch and his blocks are phenomenal! He needs to figure out how to play his new role of unbelievable energy producer and blocking machine. He is no longer the offensive star. If he can figure out that his role changed when Booze and DWill got it together last year (plus Memo pre-baby's birth) we could have a totally amazing and unstoppable team.

In Europe he's good enough to be the big star. In the NBA he's not enough alone. He proved that before last year's amazing run.

Sorry his feelings are hurt. Sure reminded me of Karl. Wah-wah-wah.

Seriously, I can't believe there is anyone who even cares about the NBA at all. I used to be the biggest fan around but the league is a shadow of what it once was. A bunch of rich spoiled guys who think they should be able to run things. (It seems a large percentage of the players are also first rate thugs.) The coaches have no authority - notice the coaching turnover rate in the league. Sloan is the exception. Ownership is willing to back him up and give him some teeth to run the team, which is a good thing. Personally I think it would be a shame to see Sloan go. Just because he's old school doesn't mean he's wrong.

Anyway, like I said, I don't really care. High school ball is more fun and interesting anyway.

what A Stupid morons | 7:33 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
Hey jazz fans with Sloan 20 years how many championship? huh? none that's matters. What a heck winning division conference all not counts. How badly outcoached in playoff. Jazz will start fell apart when AK leaves. Maybe he good or not enough. He is the guy who makes jazz game watchable. So long honest guy( In her don't express you feeling just read statement and every body happy but you didn't that you mistake)

orlando magic wants ak47!
laker hater | 8:11 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
who cares who you get we need someone at the 3 who can score more than 8 points and who can move without the ball when boozer draws the double. millsap can fill the void but he is waaaaayyy slower he needs another year in the league and then he will be crazy good.

Quote from AK after eurobasket:

We are not playing for the money. We are playing for the happiness, for the basketball. That is the main thing. Sometimes people have to understand that. Yes, we have huge contracts, but that is not why we are playing basketball.

Come on people! Andrei has every reason to ask for a trade. Have you forgotten how good he was when Sloan did use him? He has dreams and goals and potential, but his dumb coach won't allow him to reach them. He has to be frustrated with how he has been abandoned ever since signing away his freedom. The problem is Sloan and all Sloan. Sure, he has two decades in Utah. Oh, and how many championships? Not to mention he's BORING, one thing that AK is not. Give him the ball!!!!!
NY_JazzFan | 8:22 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
AK47 has many outstanding physical tools. His issue is his big head and ego. Coach Sloan has given him all opportunities to excel and refine his shooting skills. When AK47 performs well he is great but when he fails, it's someone else fault. He tends to blame coach Sloan for his failures. Leadership comes from the coach but the players must perform as the coach cannot play offense or defense for the players. This is where AK47 fails. One tournament does not make a great player.

Dude, you have it made here. Big fish in the small pond of Utah...

You will regret this decision, my friend!!!

Mend the bridge and contribute this season. Don't listen to these people who tune into KJAZZ once a week. You are one of the reason I have kept my season tickets.

It is time to fire sloan and give Phil johnson and youngsters a fair chance. Sloan has been a good coach, but his time has passed. he hid behind stockton and malone and failed us twice to the finals. This guy does not call time out, is always negative and does not have an open mind. AK is a very entertaining to watch and can change any game in seconds. We need AK to get a championship. Such defenders do not come easily. Defense wins championships. This is Larry's chance to get rid of him--loyalty is not worth loosing fans and business. I hope slaon firing and some Larry crying will take care of the matter. Phil deserves a chance. he is a very good coach with better personality...Support Sloan firing drive and save AK from leaving Jazz. Larry needs to make your call by looking into the future more versus looking in the past

Yea, I remember when Sloan did use AK'a talents and mde him the focal point of the Jazz, but do you remember our record then, or a playoff run of any kind? I'd much rather have this team than that one and if AK doesn't understand that we are much better team this way, than the problem really is his ego, not Sloan.

where is this news that Orlando wants AK coming from?
Andrew | 9:28 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
AK showed some good play at the end of the season and really was doing really well i hope he stays and all you people who are giving him crap are crazy!!!!! he had a bad year and he could have a good...i mean GREAT year with all this confidence coming into the year!
Re: Andrew | 9:41 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
I thought the same thing, until AK said he didn't want to play in Utah anymore. That doesn't bode well for AK having a great season for the Jazz this year.
Anonymous | 9:42 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
Coach Sloan is probably the only coach left in the league that I respect. Lay Off!
Anonymous | 9:43 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
Marion for AK? Are you kidding me? Let's add another Power Forward to our roster...oh wait.... we already have one. Bring Marion and he will act worse than AK
nick | 9:44 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
Dude I love AK. We will miss him -- most of the previous comments ignore the good things he's done for the Jazz during those few non-playoff years.

On another note -- DNews, what's with using an "online translation?" Can you not find a single person that speaks some Russian?
Jazzer | 10:01 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
AK47 & the Jazz are great. If AK47 can help the Jazz and he is happy, I hope he stays. If things are better for AK & the Jazz if they part ways, I wish both of them the best of luck.
off liability vs def asset | 10:31 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
Every time AK47 touches the ball in the half court set I hold my breath... he is so unpredictable its scarry... yet his defensive intangibles are likely irreplacible... Even though he's a turnover waiting to happen on offense I think his intangible/def more than make up for it... the Jazz need him
Gus | 11:17 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
Please someone take him away from us I like AK I think he is an asset but a he is the most overpaid asset in the league.
Anonymous | 11:18 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
Kobe asked out and it looks like he going no where. Just because AK wants out, it doesn't mean Jazz lost him. Although I don't mind creating some cap space for DWill and Millsap. I love AK but Jazz over paid him thus he may have to go. Some people are talking about A Jamison for AK or R Jefferson for AK or C Frye, La Frenz, and JJack for AK.
Jazzman | 11:26 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
Yeah no one would want to pay that much for AK so a trade will not happen. So like it or not AK you are gonna be playing for Sloan until that massively over you worth contract is up.
RadChad | 11:49 p.m. Sept. 19, 2007
Sloan needs to go. period. that bafoon has done nothing but make the jazz a mediocre bunch of ball players. making utah a complete joke.
Jimbo | 12:30 a.m. Sept. 20, 2007
Forget all the trade speculation. I'm sure that the Jazz brass will evaluate any trade possibilities seriously. In the meantime, AK should honor his contract, unless it has a "trade me on demand" clause, and come into camp in great shape and ready elevate his game to a new level. That way he will either help the team and they won't want to trade him or he will seem so valuable to others that they might trade someone like Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, or Tim Duncan for him and we can all live happily ever after.
Smurph | 12:10 p.m. Sept. 20, 2007
Nothing exciting will happen in the offseason. Same Jazz will be back. Hopefully better.
Hmmm | 12:53 p.m. Sept. 20, 2007
RadChad, did you watch the Jazz last year? Do you call the conference finals a joke?

I think that RadChad has never watched the Jazz, but he read all of these comments, which makes him an expert on the Jazz.
Anonymous | 5:33 p.m. Sept. 20, 2007
RadChad? Is that a real name? Do you think you're pretty "rad" or what?

#1 Utah is not a complete joke
#2 Sloan is way under rated
#3 You sound like an annoying Lakers fan
Go Jazz | 12:41 a.m. Sept. 21, 2007
I don't understand blaming Slaon for not winning any championships. Haven't we recently heard how refs. have determined the out comes of several games(?)including the Russell/Jordan call on Jordan's famous series winner over the Jazz? Is that Sloan's fault also? I guess we have to blame someone or something to justify AK's unhappiness.
pj | 10:23 a.m. Sept. 21, 2007
who will coach if sloan is gone? i mean seriously name another good coach who is going to come here?
BREECH OF CONTRACT | 10:48 a.m. Sept. 22, 2007
Wow I wish I could get out of my mortgage contract because I am dissatisfied with my payment. I wish that is the way things worked.

Would all you people jump on my bandwagon and point your finger at the loan officer and say it was his fault for making me sign this mortgage I have. Then I could get out of it. We could make him look like the bad guy and I can get out smelling like a rose.

This isn't how the "REAL WORLD" works AK. Sometimes you have to face the consequences and criticism and do what your contract says and play ball for the Utah Jazz unless they trade you.

Sounds like AK has gained a bigger head than he has brains.

Sorry to say it AK but you are stuck playing in the States for 4 more years, so keep your mouth shut and collect your pay check.

I heard that Putin needed him to help with the newly resumed long range strategic bombing missions. Can anyone else confirm this?
KLH | 1:58 a.m. Sept. 23, 2007
Was'nt it a month ago that he spouted the wonderful nature of Utah and how much he liked it here?
