I believe that the laws governing property taxes should be changed to cap the percentage that taxes can be raised per year. Our taxes have more than doubled over the past five years. Our income has certainly not kept up with this increase, and although the appraised value is also up, unless we sell our home the increased value will never be realized. People buy their homes with an expectation of what taxes will be. To increase them at this rate is unfair and will force people out of their homes if it continues. I strongly urge you to pass laws that will limit the amount that taxes can be increased. An inflated real estate market should not be the means for County govenment to line their pockets. When buying a home taxpayers should be able to rely on a reasonable increase in taxes that is in line with normal inflation. These hefty increases are hurting Utah families and it needs to be stopped. Thank you for considering my comments.
