I was in attendance at both of the events at the Gate Way saturday. I spoke with Dr. Paul and his national campaign manager about a plan B if the establishment media and the republican party are successful in derailing this campaign for the republican nomination, They were adamant that they are aiming at the nomination and when that proves to be unproductive or un-atainable they will look at other options. This article and others like it are gathering fire power to discredit Ron and his supporters if indeed the target changes in the future (of course that would be the only chink in his impenetrable armor of the constitution),the media will pounce on him like ravenous beasts starved for the blood of the Lamb ( a lamb with a 20 year unblemished fleece). That is all they will ever have on this great man Ron Paul.
Isn't it interesting that in an article on the Revolution, Mitt Romneys' name emerges and His Mormonism?? curious(I'm mormon too!). I wonder what that has to do with the Revolution raising a bigger, louder and more patriotic crowd than the "front runners" could muster?
The "internet media" is obviously the only place to gain unbiased truth.
Go on to victory Ron we're right behind you.

I am glad that the rally had a large and animated crowd. When people understand that Ron Paul is pro-life and pro-family, has never voted for a tax increase, has never voted for an unconstitutional government program, plans to eliminate the IRS and the income plans, and favors a foreign policy of defending our nation and borders rather than invading other countries, they are likely to vote for Rep. Paul.

Correction to my comment: Ron Paul supports eliminating the income tax.

Ron Paul will win the majority vote in the primaries. If the sour pusses at the GOP do not nominate him, they can kiss the White House goodbye. We are loyal to Ron Paul not the GOP. We don't care whether another Clinton wins the White House. We will not vote for a business-as-usual-candidate just to keep Hillary out. We have found the truth and political hacks no longer hold any allure. Yes, Paul will win and we are hard at work to make that possible.

I find it interesting that the Deseret News finds a way to spin an article on Ron Paul to really be about Mitt Romney, so his supporters don't have to worry about Ron Paul if he doesn't get the nomination, it won't turn into a Ross Perot situation. It is interesting that the article focused on those comments made in response to a single question posed to Dr. Pual at the Republican event rather than focus on Dr. Pul's platform and message of limited government and a return to Constitutional principles. Why was there any information on Romney in the article anyway? I never see info on Ron Paul in the myriad articles the Deseret News writes on their favorite son.

I am voting for Ron Paul regardless of who wins the Republican nomination. I will write his name in, just like I did the last Presidential election. I won't vote for the lesser of two evils.

I don't want the blood of the liberal neo-cons on my hands with their unconstitutional empire building, welfare-police state, and their betrayals to America with NAFTA and worshipping the United Nations.

I heard less than 20 people attended the early $1,000 a person fundraiser. That is kind of disheartening. I think Ron Paul will continue to be largely ignored by most media until he's raised tens of millions.

Hopefully there were a lot more people who attended the main rally and donated what they could. I know I gave $100. I would have loved to donate a full $2,300 but quarterly taxes are due tomorrow... so I'm out of money for a while. :)

I've gone to 2 Ron Paul rallies now, one in Texas City Texas and another here in Salt Lake City. Ron Paul's message of limited government and fiscal responsibility ring loud and clear to me. I respect his voting record and his ability to maintain a high level of integrity. Young Americans realize that Ron Paul represents the TRUTH.

All the other political candidates lead us further and further into socialism and less and less private rights. Ron Paul is the one candidate who puts the constitution first... no matter what. I will vote for principle everytime.

If we want to reclaim America, land of the free, we must elect Ron Paul in 2008. No more taxes, more individual responsibility, less government meddling in the affairs of private individuals..... FREEDOM.

I vote for Ron Paul 100 times over! I challenge those who don't understand the fervor behind the Ron Paul candidacy to do some research. Understand the principles of freedom. Know that limited government serves the best interests of a free society. Ron Paul speaks truths more profound than all the other candidates put together. I vote for Ron Paul 100 out of 100 times! Vote for the constitution. Vote for freedom. Vote for Ron Paul!

That assurance came after one man (THIS IS ME! AND I DID NOT ASK PAUL TO STEP ASIDE. THE NEXT PARAGRAPH HAS IT RIGHT.) asked Paul to step aside and instead focus on building the constitutional wing of the Republican Party.

THE FIRST GOAL OF RON PAUL SUPPORTERS IS TO GET HIM THE NOMINATION. REALITY IS THAT THE NEO-CONS WON'T ALLOW IT. THEY FEAR HIM. SO THE NEXT LOGICAL STEP WOULD NOT BE A THIRD PARTY BUT A NATIONAL ORGANIZATION TO HAVE THE RON PAUL SUPORTERS TAKE RON PAUL'S MISSION AND TAKE OVER THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IN THEIR RESPECTIVE STATES AND REBUILD THE PARTY BASED UPON THE CONSTITUTIONAL PRINCIPLES THAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE BASED UPON!

I was there and like what I heard from Ron Paul. Ron Paul is what Utah Republicans have always voted for. He is a proponent of limited, constitutional goverment.

Unfortunately, Utahns are often disappointed by subsequent track record of the persons they have voted for and elected. There has been no reduction of the size and influence of the Federal government.

Ron Paul promises to perform and has the track record showing that he will do as he says. He has always voted against the expansion of the Federal government.

If not for Mitt Romney, Ron Paul would be the clear choice for Utahns. Comparing the platforms of the two, Ron Paul still hews more closely to the values espoused by Utahn Republicans.

This then is a test. Adherence to priciples or making a choice based on something else. I hope that Utah Republicans choose the right.

Ron Paul is wrong on the three major issues of our day:

1. He opposes protecting marriage federally;

2. He opposes protecting unborn life federally;

3. He opposes the war in Iraq and even Afghanistan!

Don't be fooled. Much of Ron Paul's support comes from Democrats who want to undermine our Republican principles.
Jason | 11:55 a.m. Sept. 17, 2007
Utah Republicans would be wise to go back and read Ezra Taft Benson's article on the proper role of government.
Mitt, seems to have lost sight of these principles in his quest for power.

I would be proud to have a member of my faith in office, If he would stand for truth and clean up the mess in Washington.

Unfortunately Mitt seems more interested in pleasing the world.

Ron Paul is not afraid to stand against what is popular in Washington. His real challenge is to educate the public about the Constitution and the proper role of government.

Yes Thanks | 12:20 p.m. Sept. 17, 2007
The comments made by No Thanks are taken completely out of context for startle factor. Rather than believe such naysayers, please investigate Paul for yourself. Read his speeches, study what the prophets have written on government, and then pray. Isn't that what the First Presidency asks us to do each election cycle?
Personally, I too am against a strong central (Federal) government. Also, don't be fooled, I am a life-long Republican who is sickened by the immoral, sex-offending, warmongering direction the party has taken. Remember when Republicans used to defend the Constitution (like Paul) and stand for small government and people's rights?
NO THANKS to the comment by "No Thanks."

10 Idahoans drove many hours to hear Ron and we were not disappointed. Ron is the only candidate that has a solid voting record based on Constitutional principles and not the whim of the electorate. Check his record for yourself. I have been adamantly against the unconstitutional war in Iraq which many Christian conservatives were suckered into supporting because of the weapons of mass destruction hysteria. Saddam was put into place by our government to keep Iran in check. Our government installed him, trained his army and supported him just as we are now training and supporting his replacements. He was a butcherer and killed thousands of innocent persons but it wasn't our responsibility to take him out. Since his imprisonment and execution, conditions in Iraq have gotten worse not better. The majority of people in Iraq have never experienced any form of government based on rule of law and respect for all human beings. The warring factions have been killing each other for thousands of years and will continue to do so despite our sacrifice of American lives and money.Ron is absolutely right, we cannot fix all the problems of the world. In 23 years in the USA, 45 million innocent lives have been destroyed for an average of over 5,000 lives per day. America is supposed to be a Christian nation and yet we allow millions of unborn babies to be butchered every year in the name of freedom of choice. I am not proud of what America is today but I am proud to say that as for me and my house , we will support Ron Paul and even if he loses, we will do everything we can to help restore the Christian constitutional form of government our founding fathers sacrificed and died to give us.

i was duped into voting for G.W. Bush, thinking he was a constitutional conservative. and he and his republican colleagues gave us more welfare programs, more federal spending, more govt involvement in local education, a national id law, unchecked govt spying on citizens, and most alarming, total suspension of miranda rights, due process, habeas corpus and the Geneva Convention (read the Military Commissions Act for yourself).

not again. this time i'm voting for someone who has consistently for over 20 years adhered not to public opinion, but to Constitutional principles -- Dr. Ron Paul.

Ya, I too would like to know why this article has two paragraphs about the liberal governor of Massachusetts.

Leigh Dethman stupidly dictates in this article the following:

"Polls show most Utahns back another GOP candidate, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Romney, who is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, like the majority of Utahns, was the leader of the successful 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City".

***Huh***

What the heck does that have to do with Ron Paul?!? The only support Mitt Romney has in Utah, is from the College Democrats of BYU. Remember, it was those fringe liberals who staged a protest to Vice President Cheney's commencement speech, proving once again that BYU is a liberal institution and mocks their own Board of Trustees - men whom the rest of us "majority of Utahns", sustain as Prophets, Seers, and Revelators.

Mitt Romney is a liberal, just like his pathetic father. Remember how George Romney tried to hijack the party from Barry Goldwater and later Richard M. Nixon?

I don't care what Leigh Dethman thinks of her preferred candidate. We are not in the general election just yet. We are heading towards the REPUBLICAN PRIMARY, and in the REPUBLICAN PRIMARY, REPUBLICANS decide who represent the REPUBLICAN TICKET. Mitt Romney won't get the ticket, because regardless of what Leigh Dethman thinks of Mitt Romney, he is not celebrated among a majority of REPUBLICANS (only the fringe liberals who voted for John McCain in 2000).

Ron Paul is a man of integrity. He speaks with conviction. He is not a flip-flopper. He supports a free society and limited government. He does not support big government, gay rights, and abortion (unlike Mitt Romney). He will not raise the capital gains tax (like Mitt Romney did).

He opposes Federal invovlement in abortion, and consequently overturning Roe Vs. Wade. A lack of Federal involvement would be a huge step FORWARD in defending the unborn because it would allow good state laws against abortion (like Utah's) to actually take effect and not be undermined by the courts and Federal funding.

Dr. Paul voted for the authorization to go after the perpetrators of 9/11 and into Afghanistan, because that's what the wording of the authorization called for. He opposes, in practice, the current situation in Afghanistation becuase it did not accomplish this, has greatly exceeded the mandate of the authorization (read it) and is another occurrence of "nation building"... that thing the G.W. campaigned in 2000 saying he wasn't going to do.
