If the mayor wants to make life better, than get rid of ALL taxes for so called social services...
Allow people to use their money to help, don't force it by taxing...

My favorite is how everyone thinks as soon as they start driving up Parley's canyon, they're in Park City. People who live 15 miles away in Summit Park use Park City on their address. The Canyons isn't even city limits, to give you an idea.

Heaven forbid the mayor would actually have to explain his job to a group of Scouts. Now he can "dumb it down" by simply using the new slogan, and all is well and "cool". Sheesh!

... many of those surveyed voted for the current crop of elected officials.

how would no taxes make life better? this would also mean no public services? are you suggesting you want to pay a fee the next time you go to a public park, a fee the next time you call the police to report a complaint. would you be comfortable with no planning or zoning in your community? let developers build whatever they like wherever.

and i don't think many city taxes fund social services, most of that comes from state or federal funds.

how much they paid for that survey? so they can laugh at the people they served? wouldn't have been better to use that money to improve the services instead? They are wasting time and money to find out if the people knows where those services come from instead of looking for ways how to improve them and make them cost-effective so we can have a relief in our taxes. What a waste of time and money! and thinking we paid these surveys so they can laugh about it. Pathetic!

Make Life Better, if surveyed, would have been part of the 15% that hadn't used city services that day. It is easy to forget that police, fire, sewer, streets, garbage and others are the services that allow the city to even exist. I guess we could get along without the library, summer fireworks and parks, but these are only a small part of the budget. I suggest that Make Life Better look over his property tax bill and see what a small amount goes to the city compared to the other tax entities. This does not mean that we shouldn't continually watch to make sure city government is careful with our taxes.

I am appalled at how ignorant our citizens are, especially those who have previously suggested getting rid of all social services. What a disgrace to humanity to suggest that such services are a waste of money. I am an educator and I am paid from your taxes. Do we really want to impede our growth as a community? We need our entire population support before real change can come with education, poverty and violence. Maybe one day people will realize.

Start with open accountablity, sometimes the cities are reluctant to advertise certain inaliable rights. Then expand it to the state level legislators, so it becomes a reliable service rather than a retirment plan.

I think the article says the survey was paid for by the League of Cities and Towns. So it probably wasn't your tax dollars. I think it sounds interesting, I want to see the full survey results.

Plus government today survey the public of evertything, this isn't uncommon.

The "brand" my city needs to adopt and live by is "We serve for you". I am not a consumer to my city. Their jobs are to serve and represent my, and my neighbors', desires in the way our town grows, acts, and what it provides. The crosswalk on the way to school for my children has been paved over for 4 months, and NOT repainted. They cross this every day. How does my city's cumbersome construction process, and my mayor's and city council's lackadaisacal attitude make my family's life better? It doesn't. The intersection is unsafe for my kids and that's not what anyone wants. My city makes my life better when they get around to it. If cities are a "brand" then I should get to choose what I buy from them and what I don't.

We need a few more cities in the north county of Utah County to build a new hockey rink facility preferably with several ice rinks and an indoor soccer area like the Peaks. it would be great if Lehi/Saratoga Springs/Eagle Mtn and Highland/AF/PG would build two rink sites. As they are not very good money makers the county taxes could be used to help support these venues.

Who cares if folks have no idea what cities do? What is going to change if poeple know a city provides the sewer? Why are we spending money to inform folks who don't care and will no do anything with this information?

it matters because that is the only way to make informed decisions when it comes to determining what services to fund. i personally would like to know what i'm paying for when i pay my property taxes.

When I lived in Utah all of my services were provided by the SL County. A lot of cities in SL county have there services contracted out to the county. And Gretzky take your socilistic canidian ways back to canada, if you want that stuff pay for it yourself. I am sick of baby boomers who want stuff but don't pay for it themself. It will be the economic ruin of our country in 15-20 years.
