Rocky you've lost it.. | 12:57 a.m. Sept. 10, 2007
For a person whose administration was plagued with a turn over rate, faster then Senator Craig in the bathroom. It is sad to find a mayor that not only puts limits on people that believe that women are incapable of time management like himself or that could not hold a marriage together like himself is completely insane. Mr. Mayor I wished your reign as our Mayor would end this tuesday as you would see a higher turnout rate. I used to like you but it's these comments that hurt the tone of reasonable people, and no Bhuler is not a reasonable guy. Jenny I hope wins and will be the great role model many young women need. Good riddance.

I agree!

The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if this wasn't orchestrated between Rocky and Jenny in order to woo some of Buhler's voters over to the Wilson camp and bump him out of the running.

Yahoo Jenny Wilson. She has my vote on Tuesday. I'm so angry at Rocky Anderson and anyone else who criticizes women who work and parent at the same time. Jenny is showing voters she won't back down under pressure, and that matters in any job, let alone SLC mayor!

And thanks to Bob Bernick, for zeroing in on our current mayor's hypocrisy. His son certainly was a young teen when he ran for Congress. I'd imagine that job takes a lot more travel time (back and forth to Washington, late night votes on the Hill, etc.) than being the mayor would.

I'd love to see every parent in the city get out and vote for Wilson.

I'm, once again, proud to have already voted early for Jenny Wilson! Her statements yesterday stood up for working families and women who were attacked by Rocky, the mayor I once respected.

I hope other voters see her strength and willingness to fight for true progressive values in the mayor's office!

My impression is that Anderson was not criticizing Wilson when he shared his concerns with her father. The problem only arose when her father mentioned it to Holly Mullen, his wife and Wilson's step-mother, and Mullen took the "mole hill" and turned it into a mountain. I'm not defending Anderson, whose leaving office will benefit the whole state, but I am criticizing Mullen and step-daughter Wilson, who ought to know better.

I totally like the conspiracy theory comment -- you may be on to something...

It sounds to me like Rocky had a private conversation with Ted Wilson and Ted realized he could take this public and the outrage that Rocky was being sexist would fuel Jenny's campaign. The private conversation only made it into the media because Ted Wilson or someone on Wilson's campaign told it to Holly Mullen.

By what stretch of the imagination is it relevant to the general thrust of the story that Jenny Wilson's campaign manager is "a leading gay activist"? What kind of so-called journalism is this?

It was sexist. It was sexist no matter how you look at it: private conversation, public statement, whatever. It was sexist to make these statements regarding a woman, but not to have the same concerns regarding a man. It was sexist.

But then again, how can we possibly expect ANYTHING else from our dear Rocky, whose past bad judgement includes once considering the problem of abandoned shopping carts in neighborhoods and deciding that the best approach was to fine the stores whose carts were stolen and abandoned? (Since when do we punish the victims of theft for getting their own stuff stolen?!)

I, for one, am counting the days until Rocky is out of office. He's been nothing but an embarassment to SLC since he was elected.

The public demands placed on an elected official are significant and no doubt create challenges in balancing the needs of a family. However, is this a new issue? Has this not been an ongoing issue for office holders, male or female, for some time?

In turn, are there not choices made by office holders that in turn have a direct impact on time available for their families? For example, the current mayor has focused on a national agenda that has required significant out of state travel.

Would it be all bad to have a mayor shift the focus and energy to the pressing needs of neighborhoods here at home. There are serious needs in the various neighborhoods of the City and to have a mayor bring focus, energy and resources to addressing those concerns, in my opinion, would be a plus.

I wish I could vote for SLC mayor tomorrow, but alas I cannot. Whoever becomes the new mayor of SLC has their work cut out for them. Since the past mayor has been devilishly unreasonable, I hope you SLC residents aren't clouded over by the prevailing mists of darkness and get your carcasses out there and vote for the most reasonable person. Think about it.
