First off King Pierce, congratulations on inheriting 100,000 dollars from Leona Helmsley. Nice to see good things happen to good people your esteemed lordship, and you have certainly earned some of her money. Now moving on. Your majesty, I don't think you and your colleagues should have let her off the hook so easily. She was there to promote her show, but it is the critics who set the tone and agenda of the session. Your colleagues should have told her if she didn't stop dodging and weaving and answer the questions put before her honestly that you would walk out of the meeting. Your royal godliness, faced with having to explain to her network why she blew a promotional event she would not have embarassed herself by allowing a cavalcade of tv critics to walk out 5 minutes into the session. Certainly your bosses would have understood. This would be like the mine boss calling a press conference, agreeing to answer questions but then dodging and weaving when your colleagues started grilling him on the tough questions. Kudos though to putting her in her place your supreme lordship with your final question, though she was probably too dense to comprehend you were rebuking her for her handling of the conference and invited the negative publicity you have correctly heaped on her today.

To call Miss Jones a "buffoon"makes me think that you lack credibility. While she may have been evasive, uncooperative, and secretive, she is not a "buffoon". I can imagine that you and your colleagues were put off by Miss Jones's evasive responses. But you as a professional must rise above her demeanor and report to us accurately and objectively. Leave the name-calling to those less qualified!

Pierce who? Leave Star Jones alone. If the dimwit Pamela Anderson were to host a show, you wouldnt' be harsh on her because she's your beloved white chick. As soon as a black woman tries her hand at anything, you're calling her names. You all tried the same with Tyra. LEAVE OUR BLACK WOMEN ALONE!!! WE'RE SICK OF YOUR NAME CALLINGS AND CONTSTANTLY PUTTING THEM DOWN! WE'RE SICK OF IT.

I agree with the comments above. To call Star Jones a buffoon is just as bad as labeling the next female (black or white) a toothpick. It would be wrong. Please, cut Miss Jones some slack. She's trying to rebound from "The View", and she has the right to do so.

Jones is definitely a star in her own right. She's a journalist who I'm sure is proud of what she's doing. If you don't like or believe in her, then please, at least show her the well deserved dignity and respect. Please, give her the benefit of the doubt.

Please, sit back and watch her a bit. You can look past her gender and race. You'll see a journalist embarking on a whole new beginning. Liz Walker embarked on a new beginning by joining Boston's WBZ Channel 4 in 1981. She put in 20 years at the desk, and now hosts her own Sunday morning show from beyond the desk.

It just goes to show you. "You can't judge a book by its cover". Please, be happy you're a journalist. Somebody somewhere could be calling you a buffoon. Would you like that? I assure you I wouldn't. Please, leave Star Jones alone. Give her the dignity and respect she well deserves.

Oh come on. First, this is not a racial issue so please get off it.

Star Jones ego is so out of control she can't believe anything she says or does is wrong. It's everyone else who has the problem.

Mr.Pierce reported on what happened at Jones's press conference. Yes, a public relations disaster.

She acts like a Goddess and seems to think the rules of the media ( like answering a simple question honestly) do not apply to her highness.

The definition of buffoon is, "A ludicrous or bumbling person; a fool." I think this describes Ms. Jones perfectly. I wouldn't accuse the writer of "name calling." More like being very descriptive concerning the person being interviewed.

If Star Jones would quit acting like she is God's gift to the rest of us and we should bow to her then maybe, just maybe, she could make it.

What if Jones would have come out to the press room and announced, "Yes I did it, I had stomach surgery, now about the show." And then laughed at herself.

The mood of the room would have changed and perhaps the reporters would have been kinder to her.

As it stands now Star Jones doesn't get it. She is a walking, talking public relations disaster.
