Wonderful at the pump but a HUGE shock to the pocket book when you need repairs! We've spent over $5000 just on repairs to a fuel sensor problem in the past 2 years. If I were to do it all over again I'd buy a bi-fuel vehicle because of the inconvenience we've experienced with not being able to go everywhere we'd like because of lack of fueling stations.

$5000 will pretty much pay for a replacement for an entire CNG systems. Sounds like you took it to someone who really did not know what they were doing. Don't be surprised even most Honda dealers claim to have a alt fuel specialist when they truly do not. Three commons things that go wrong in the GX are #3 fuel injector $300, tank valve covered under federal emmissions warranty (most of the time), and coils $40 each but is usually caused by running the incorrect spark plugs in these cars (no platinum plugs)

I am in California and pay $2 a gallon for the fuel. I love my car, and would love to see it become more wide spread. Only problem, if you are usually hit by the Alternative Minimum Tax, you will not get your Federal Tax Credit. Oh well...

This article does increase CNG awareness but overstates the issues related to fueling the vehicles. First, you can easily install a Fuelmaker Phill appliance in your garage and leave home everyday with a full tank.

Second, keeping a list of all public stations with their addresses and hours of operation is easy. My son and I just returned from a weekend trip to San Diego in our natural gas powered Camry.

Everyone in Utah should consider buying a natural gas powered car as their primary vehicle. It will save you thousands on fuel! My monthly fuel bill went from $500 per month to under $100 per month when I bought a 99 Civic in April. I used the Civic as my primary car until August when I bought a 2000 Camry. I now drive the Camry and my 19 year old son drives the Civic and we continue to own a Ford Expedition to use when we travel somewhere where natural gas is not available... it rarely gets used.

Holy smokes I love CNG but can't find a van or suv worth buying for my family of 6. I barely missed an Escalade on ebay that was bi-fuel. I was so disgusted. I am not complaining about the lack of fueling stations but it would be great to see more. It would be very easy for Flying J to expand this service to every store. Now that CNG is .64/gal and there is a $3000 tax credit (not deduction) what is everyone waiting for? Lets create the market so that businesses will supply us with fuel and vehicles we want to drive

CNGUTAH.COM just had a Dodge Caravan for sale with only 17k miles on it. I see cars and trucks on that site all the time available in Utah.
I've owned a couple of the CNG Caravans and they hold 7 passengers with space for an extra tank behind the back seat.

I bought a conversion kit online and coverted my 2001 dodge neon over to CNG. It only costed me $900 for everything. I bought a used tank that was in excellent condition that was only a couple of years old. It was kind of tricky doing the install but someone with good mech aptitude can do it. I will be posting it on you tube in a few weeks when I get everything perfect. I can now kiss gas prices good buy and luagh as I pass the gas stations and their rediculous prices. You Got to Love CNG in Utah.

This is not the solution but it could be a termporary solution. The laws of supply and demand. As the demand for natural gas prices increase so does the price.

For CNG fueling station locations in Utah check out the questar gas site, then click on natural gas for vehicles and you can see a pdf. We printed it out and put it in our glove box to keep it handy.

i agree that cng is not a permanent solution, but it certainly helps give some competition to gasoline as does other technology such as electric vehicles. it could really reduce demnad for gasoline which would help reduce the price if you believe in the laws of 'supply & demand'. it is a ashame that obama didn't take econ 101 instenad of his 'law' courses. i might be able to support him if he made just a little sense. "it would take 10 years to get off shore and anwr oil to market...." then let's get to it. time's awasting....

I am currious about the $900 dollar conversion. I've been researching this and my understanding is only epa and carb certified natrual gas kits are legal on anything newer than 1994. The reason is the government views anthing else as tampering with the emmissions system.

I like the $900 and was wondering if I have misunderstood or there is a way around it.

I read the fine was $5000/day. That kind of scared me.

Natural Gas reserves are avilable for the next 118 yars, Do you think this is only a temporary solution?, Ok,is temporar for 118 years
