This article has the position of Utah Heritage Foundation slightly wrong. The Public Safety Building has a significant history and unique architecture that is unmistakable. However, we have not advocated for the Police Department to stay in the building and upgrade it themselves if they desire a new facility that would work better for them and the city. But if the voters positively decide on the bond and the city vacates the building, rehabilitation by another owner for another use will make it gleam again, similar to its predecessor, the First Security Bank Building on 400 South and Main Street.

More information about the buildings significance, architect, and reuse options is available on Utah Heritage Foundations web site at www.utahheritagefoundation.org
