How does a handle rather than a round doorknob save time in cleaning? And do these folks have help for the majority of us who live in existing houses, not custom designed starter palaces?

anonymous too!

anonymous-I had the same thoughts...The only thing I can think of is that with doorknobs ,it tends to get dirty all around from hands touching it all the time. I think these people that write this junk have a good laugh at all of "the rest of us" and run out of ideas about how and what to clean so they put stuff in there to drive us crazy!!! I think the next time my home needs a good cleaning I'll organize teams and for fun see whose house takes the longest to clean...doesn't that sound like some good old fashioned fun...kinda what the pioneers did when they didn't have anything else to do-not!

I have a book written by Don Aslett that my mom bought 20 years ago. It's full of great ideas that work. So don't sneer too much. This article hints at a lot of ideas without explaining them fully. I must admit that latches might be faster to clean (because they have fewer surfaces) but door knobs keep the door closed. I had to comment because I hated to hear Don Aslett's ideas called junk. He knows his stuff. You've got to know the difference between fun/cool idea and practical idea. Some ideas can be both.
