This whole fiasco is really bad for the mining industry in Utah. I hope that they find some signs of life on this borehole.
Does anyone know when the press conference is suppose to be for tonight? I know it was pushed back to 7pm, but I've yet to see anything.
Thanks and God Bless
We need nuke power. If we had other means to electrify our homes, we wouldn't need to risk people in mines. Or, we could have safe mining, and sit in the dark -- but what would our kids do? No games, no TV, no internet. Oh, gee, I guess we need unsafe mines.
If we had nuke power as Jim suggests... this wouldn't be a mining tragedy. It would be a melt down with consequences 100 times worse.
This is a terrible tragedy. I have been watching it closely. I keep wishing my father who died last July was here to get his opinions. He spent his life working in the coal mining industry. In the later years before retirement he was fist a foreman and then a fireboss. I hope my some miracle these miners are alive. I do feel that all coal miners know the risks involved in their profession. The heroes who died trying to save them also knew the risks. Therefore, I think all the negativity against the industry and the mine owners themselves is unwarranted. Of course, I could be wrong and maybe further investigation will turn something up. Who knows at this point.
