Is this a news story or a commentary? I can't tell. There was a time when a commentary was clearly labeled. Now it seems reporters opinions are presented as stories. Does that help, or hurt, credibility of the press?

Cliff, I think this story is more commentary then anything. After reading the first few lines, I had to check and make sure it said "Associated Press" at the top and not "MoveOn.Org". I still have my doubts.

I was surprised that the first two comments correspond exactly as my own. Instead of simply stating facts, the author presumes to know that Karl Rove was "arrogant", and that he was responsible for 'spoiling' the White House. One man's 'arrogance' may be anothers 'principled action', yet the author's political sentiments come blaring through. It's a bogus report that should have been screened out by this paper's editors.

I must agree with the first three comments. The fact that such a blatantly biased report would be published in a reputable newspaper and be passed off as news is disgusting. I must protest the Deseret News' posting of such a piece, which is written by a man who is not guided by facts but by an underlying hatred of the President, Vice President, and the man who was smart enough to help President Bush accomplish many of his objectives. This deserves two thumbs down.

It's amazing that no matter how many scandles Bush and his puppet master get into, many Utahns refuse to believe anything bad said about either Rove or Bush.
