Thank you so much for this story. I'm sitting here reading it and bawling. And it's been 20 years since my divorce from my Vietnam vet.He freaked out after seeing the film "Platoon" in 1987, and asked for a divorce shortly after. We'd been married 19 years, and had two beautiful children. It was hell.
Time does heal, but I still miss him, and in spite of his abuse, have deep feelings for him. If only he had been willing to get some help...well, we always have the "if only's". I'm grateful this new generation of vets and their families have so much more info and support. And my heart breaks for them, and what they will face now. So much pain.
Stories like this help me very much. Just knowing there are others like me helps.
