Comments about ‘Bear blamed for boy's death in American Fork Canyon is killed’

We all must understand that we are all trespassing on their land, thru their yards. We should also take time to wonder why they attack us either thru fear diversity or plain and simple hunger they were here 1st. and should be given the respect and admiration tha they deserve..

I dont care if we are trespassing, i only hope if I ever encounter a bear, i get one clean shot between the eyes. I am so sorry for this family, and how thier son died. I wish people especially with children, should camp very near park rangers/officials to deter these animals away. Oh and john, these bears attack because they are Viscous.....and my respect is for this family and thier loss.

There are several reasons bears attack and kill. But hey this is what bears do. They shoulded be punished for being a bear. Yes it's sad that people die, but if you're going to be camping, jogging or whatever in a bears world, be prepared for things like this. Anyone in bear country should have a pepper spray canister at the ready hanging from a chest strap. C'mon people things CAN be avoided!!
