I lost track of Col. Nielsen and am more than a year late. But I served under him in Roswell, NM. He was a great officer and a good friend. He was a kind and decent man I respected. I never knew of his Doolittle Raider connection until much later. Col. Nielsen was not a man who bragged about his accomplishments. He was and still remains my hero and the best representative of what America is all about. Thank you Col. Nielsen for the honor of serving with you. I'm sorry not to have had the opportunity to say a final goodbye. But I know you'll understand. Keep 'em flyin'!
