What I just read is s very sad. I spent 13 months in entiwetoc, marshal islands 1955-56 and experienced a-bomb and h-bomb tests. I was on a de-contamination squad and returned very ill.
I was hospitalized and straped in a bed to keep from scratching. bubbles of watery pus formed on my skin. i was told it was mono. ha! ha!

Since that time i have had varies skin problems of which no doctors can find a cure. when i mention, could it be radition?, they just look at me funny ans offer anti-biotics.

at the present time i have a problem in my left index finger. something on the inside seeking to get out. it is itchy with watery pus, the same thing i had on the island.

I had requested army medical records years ago but was told they were gone in a fire.

how convient. i believe some sort of compensation is in order.

I took part in operation tea pot in 1955 in feb and in june and in 1996 came down with hairey cell leukemia. I have been having a on going fight with the va going on over 4 years to restore by service connected disability.When our goverment alows it troops to be put in harns way and seems to forget what it does what are those like myself supposed to believe about our govement I have hired the services of a lawyer and will continue to fight until i and others like me win Thank you for reading my note

My husband took part in operation teapot in May 1955. He died of Renal cancer in 1978 at the age of 44. I applied to the VA for help and was denied. I never received any compensation for his death which I know was caused by the fallout. I wish everyone good luck getting help from the VA.

I was a member of Joint Task Force 8 during the Christmas Island atmospheric atomic tests in 1962. I served aboard the USS Yorktown CVS-10. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December, and had a prostectomy January 13.When the lymph nodes came back from pathology I was informed that I had Non-Hodgkins lymphoma ccl. My doctor said that radiation poisoning could linger in the body for years before it surfaced. I am going to file a claim with the VA. Either they will help with my medical expenses, or they won't.
