I purchased a scooter last July and did not ride that much in the winter (New York). I now have just under 4000 miles and the Chinese have a pretty good product for the money. I guess they know how to build them as they sell 55% of the scooters in the world. I had just a few minor problems, that my reputable dealer took care of. I do mean minor, nothing that kept the scoot from running. It is a 150CC and will do a little over 50 MPH, cruise real nice at 40 to 45 MPH. Gas mileage is in the range of 67 to 72 MPG. I am 6' and 215 lbs. so if I lost a couple of lbs. my top speed would increase as would the mileage. Highly recommend a scoot. I had ridden motorcycles for 15 years and now in my older years 77, I find I cannot justify buying another motorcycle, but the scooter seems to be just the thing. With no bar across you can put groceries on the floorboard. I even had the large paper hand towels bungie corded to my carrier behind the seat, as well as under seat storage!
