I saw a wolf run across highway 50 about 35 years ago when I was going over a snow covered pass. At the time I was not very familiar with Nevada, so I am not able to be more specific. But the animal was much too big to be a coyote. I think it is much more wonderful when there are lots of different kinds of wild animals in the land, including wolves.

Yesterday I was in the Northwestern area of the Reese River valley, North of Austin, NV. What I first thought to be a Coyote crossed the road in front of me. This animal was the size of a large German Shepard, and dark Grey, almost black. I have seen plenty of Coyotes, & none have looked like this. Also, my experience is, that Coyotes run until they are out of sight. This animal ran up a hill, turned, & watched me pass? I came to your site because Ive never seen this before, & looking for information on wolves in Nevada.

I saw two of these wolves run into highway 50 TWO WEEKS ago around midnight just west of Ely, NV. I stopped the car, they stopped and one sat down and just stared at me the other just stood with head turned back at me. They were absolutely beautiful animals, fluffy fur, big white chest.I new they were way two large for coyotes and definitely not domesticated animals.

Is there someone official I should report this too?

Two seperate reports of 2 grey-shaded wolves in the McDerimitt area in Sep 2008. I personally did not see them, but two credible ranchers I talked to seperately caimed to have seen them.

A gray wolf watches biologists in Yellowstone National Park, Wyo. Nevada officials aren't sure the last time a gray wolf was seen in their state.
