I differ on this. Birth mothers have no idea the pain and grief that will never go away. Babies belong with their mothers unless their are truly exceptional circumstances. The LDS Church was behind letting adult adoptees access their original birth certificates in Oregon a few years ago. It is misleading to let young women think that adoptive families will "love" them. That certainly was not my experience. Why not support the natural mother? Because the infertile women is desperate for a child does not give her the right to another woman's child. That catch phrase about giving them up to love is absurb. It is only because she is single. They don't ask married couples to donate a child to an infertile couple do they?
My mistake the LDS Church was opposed letting adult adoptees access their birth certificates in Oregon.
