As a longtime LDS Democrat, I find it heartening to see such fine people in our party and in our government. Not everyone in the Democratic party is pro-abortion or pro-gay marriage. Far from it. But we try to carefully follow the Savior's teachings that tell us to love one another, to help one another, to care for the earth and the animals we are blessed to share it with, and to live in faith, not in fear.

Long overdue to finally hear that Mormon Democrats aren't an invisible minority. Its good for the country and the Church to acknowledge that we are not all of the same opinion when it comes to politics, but do share many of the same goals for our country and families.

I heard the most outrageous comment the other day. Some fellow in our wards was suggesting that Harry Reid is not a real mormon. It was the old I know a cousin who has a friend in Nevada.

How disgusting can people get, I was proud to be a republican 25 years ago. Now its the same old backstabbing of politics.

Utah will always settle for the scraps from the table of National wealth the Republican toss them.

I also was sitting in sunday school when I was told that "I should know how to vote.... Or we as a people are dumber then some apostle thought"

I have also been asked at least 10 times, how any mormon could vote for a democrat?

Wow am I dissapointed that so many people are closed minded to ideas. I have left many post asking why we spend so much on Defense but so little on Social programs. To date not one soul has taken up the argument.

I guess President Faust was one of those dumb people that could not figure out how to vote Republican.

For the first time, this 40 year old Mormon will be voting as a Democrat. Trickle down economics (first begun by Kennedy, accelerated by the Reagan tax cuts, and run rampant with the Bush tax cuts) has decimated the middle class, resulted in the uber-wealthy "building bigger barns," and has destroyed our economy. Obama's economic policies are sound.

As Isaiah said, "Wo unto those who join house to house, field to field, until there is no one left in the land." The subsequent curse effectively states that they shall reap 1/10th of what they sow. The economics of the eternities shows that when we share the wealth, instead of selfishly hoarding the wealth, everyone, including the wealthy are blessed with more.

Capitalism unchecked by morality and compassion becomes pure and corrosive greed. Greed is not good. Capitalism is only viable in the long-term with structured mechanisms to prevent wealth, power, and greed from unbalancing the distribution of wealth. I sincerely think that Obama understands this and so does Harry Reid.

Some interesting comments here... especially considering that all were made before the so called LDS Democrats began voting on massive spending plans and socialism. Don't get me wrong... the Republicans aren't much better.

I had to laugh at the gentlemen talking about why we don't spend more on social programs. I have your answer... We're not a socialist country. The framers of the Constitution did everything they could to make it unconstitutional.

I feel doubly sorry for the old chap who was duped into believing Reid about fiscal responsibility. And Capitalism is bad? The problem here isn't unchecked capitalism.. the problem here is unchecked wickedness.

Example: 2 million criminals incarcerated in the US... 84% claim to be Christian.. costing taxpayers $250 BILLION a year. Look at all of the other broken commandments (they all cost money). Everything is clogged: the courts, the hospitals, the jails, we need ever more agencies and laws to 'control' everyone & they all cost money.

People.. the laws of this land were designed to function under the premise that people were basically good. Not much of that going around.

So forget partisanship: Christ's Gospel is the ONLY Answer
