Stand your ground. You have done nothing wrong. Father was using wrong approach to control his child. Suggest him to speak to Doctor Phill (TV Program). I was watching last week part of this program, how to control kids. As to kicking BACA members off the flight? - It's not the AMERICAN WAY. Every passenger shoud have stood up and tried to stop the father or told him to control himself. Kids will learn from him and from his actions. Shame on him.
Respect and loyalty.

SYDNEY NSW CHAPTER.
Again Sterotyped by people who do not understand what BACA is about. Shame on this airline for not protecting a child from being abused. That is what is wrong with society today. No more turning heads when it comes to abuse. We must stick together and break this cycle. Makes me wander what happend to the child after they left the plane. What happened to the red flags waving everywhere as the little girl was being hit and humiliated. Shame on the airport for not having child protective services waiting at the gate! And shame on those passangers that turned their head and ignored the situation!
What a bum rap!! The members of BACA should have been moved up to First Class and had their flight money refunded to them!
What kind of world do we live in that allows the abuse of children? It really bothers me that no one else on that plane had the guts to stand up for those children or for the members of BACA that did.
Remember people the children are our future! so "Protect The Future STOP Child Abuse"

Los Angeles Chapter
IT SADDENS ME TO HEAR OF THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT.I APLAUDE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS FOR TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! WE ARE HERE FOR THE KIDS--WHATEVER IT TAKES!
I agree it sounds as if the child was being handled in an inappropriate way. But it's also evident to me that there's more to this story than what the BACA members are quoted as saying in this article. One clue is the word "essentially" used by the BACA member to say "that way essentially the end of the confrontation." No, that wasn't the end of the confrontation, and this Sparti character knows it.
I believe both parties were behaving in an inappropriate manner, and I agree with their being thrown off the flight. As to the claim that some were thrown off who were not involved, just because they were wearing Harley Davidson shirts, well, that's another story. I would hope the airline would only expell those actually involved.
It's comments made by people like Dan M. that really bother me about the way people think and feel about Child abuse in this country and the people that stand up for children's rights. When people who stand up to protect children are punished for doing the "right thing". It shows how uncaring people really are!
An adult has no right under any conditions to lay a hand on a child.
A child's health and well being should be protected at all times and by everyone.
By looking away and ignoring the issue, it only allows people to continue the abuse against children!
You are exactly right. Dan M. did not even mention the welfare of the child. What would have happened if those parents would have been slappin Dan around? Would he have wanted someone to step in?
Shame on you Dan!
Well I speak for the parents out there, we all know that it's hard to keep our little ones entertained. However as a mother of a 2,3,7 yr old I could never in my life treat my children like how those ignorant parents. As for the other parents on the flight. Do you treat your children that way?? How can you look the other way? Shame on you!! For the victimize child I will pray for your safty.

Stitch of the N.O.M.O. chapter
I'm very disappointed that more people have not commented on this issue and have not stood up for these children's rights and in support of these BACA members.
It is a sad state in which we live when people choose to ignore an issue like this.
Shame on the population at large !!!

I agree, we are all responsible for the welfare of our children. No adult would put up with anyone laying hands on them, why is it "okay" for an adult to do that with a child? Just because the child is theirs? No, that child is NOT your property to do with as you please! To have a child is a privilege and should be seen as such! All the other adults on the plane that didn't stand up for this child should have been removed from the plane. Way to go BACA, keep up the good work!!
Isn't it funny how people jump to conclusions about what actually happened when it is obvious that there is only one side of this story being told?
I absolutely think that intervention should happen when a child is in harms way. I also believe that there is a right and a wrong way to intervene. Just like there is a right way and a wrong way to discipline your child.
I do hope that BACA files the lawsuit they have threatened... it will bring both sides of the story to light.
Outside of that, shame on everyone for making assumptions based on this story. If you were not on that flight, you have no idea what actually happened and how bad the situation (on either side) really was.
I smell a lawsuit...
BACA, keep up the good work!
I agree with all the coments about protecting children. And I would have done the exact same thing in saying something to the father. But the follow-through was flawed.
I think the problem was in not getting the flight crew involved immediately. As the story is told, the flight crew didn't get involved until everyone was getting kicked off. The right process would have been to tell the father he was hurting the child, and call the flight attendant at the same time. So you stop the abuse at that point, and let airline personnel handle it going forward. I think I would have been calling for a flight atendant while pointing at the guy going "help - flight attendant - this child is being abused..." rather than trying a direct confrontation on an airplane.
My point is - although I applaud the intent, I think the execution was slightly flawed. Airline security is such a huge thing right now, trying to handle this without the immediate involvement of the flight crew was a mistake.
and I really hope the kids aren't abused any more. That's what really counts.

In response to Dave's comment,
So Dave you are saying it is ok for a parent to smother a child's mouth and hit their leg because they were being fussy?
Do you feel that it is ok for an adult to lay a hand on a child for any reason?
The bottom line here is people who work with abused children everyday saw what is deemed inappropriate behavior on the part of the parents and stood up and stopped it and no one else on that plane including the airline staff had the guts to back them up.
There is no other side to this story "A CHILD WAS BEING ABUSED BY AN ADULT" end of story.
There is no "wrong way" to intervene when a child is being hurt.
And when the lawsuit is filed, Dave, and the whole story is brought out, will you be the first to applaud BACA's efforts if it's found they were in the right? I'm sure the parents were probably given the chance to "tell their side" of the story, but didn't want to because they were ashamed at getting caught manhandling their child. And the flight crew shouldn't have had to be called over, they should have already been there intervening. No one would let an adult push another adult, especially someone smaller and weaker, around period. Intervention would have occured, children have just as much right to be protected, if not more, than an adult.
