The gospel in words – 'Magnify'
2 comments | Read story
For example, when I became scout leader several years ago, the previous scout leader had moved away. He did everything - he planned the campouts, took care of all the organization, etc. Everything. When I became the scout leader, I noticed that the boy scouts had a lax attitude about scouting - they wouldn't help, they tried to let me do everything. The parents were not involved - there was no committee. I had to change all that by insisting to not do it all myself. Thus, the boys were forced to grow by doing much that I refused to do for them. And we created a scout committee that involved parents - that got parents involved, etc.
Which scout troop do you think is better? The one after I did less and thus made the troop a better one.
In this day of uber-dedication to church callings at the expense of other, equally worthy activities, we need to consider if doing less is magnifying also.
