Son played in the UBA summer league this year. It's the program the high school coach wants them in and the only program available in our area.

It is our first experience with UBA. I was disappointed with the several games that had only one umpire but otherwise he had a good time (the most important part). He goes to a great school with a good overall athletic tradition but unfortunately baseball is generally not a part of that tradition. The philosophy is that the boys should already know the game and very little teaching and practicing are done. The result: an underachieving program.

Do HS Coachs really teach a boy anymore than they already know from playing 100 games a year since they were 8 years old? 4 years in HS and they play a total of maybe 250 games compared to 400 that they would play in 4 years on a Comp team ect. HS Coachs get way to much credit for taking what has already been developed for them and actually thinking they are the ones who made the boy as good as he is. Our coach plays small ball EVERY inning even if we are losing by 15 he seems to think 1 run when your down that much is going to make the difference he even does it with 2 strikes and 2 outs. I worry about the kids he's teaching drivers ed to. I am just thankful for the Coaches my son had that actually taught him the game and took it serious when it needed to be the last 4 years were pretty painful to watch!

Please allow me to set the record straight. I have coached the Rats since they were 9 years old and have enjoyed every minute of it. The night we beat the Marshalls, we were the better team. All ten of the players were there to win. Of the 7 Riverton players that were there 2 played College ball at Miles College, 1 will play ball at Taft and another at Dodge City College, 2 will pay thier own way to school while the last one entered the Marines the next day ( the pitcher ). The WJ players are going to CSI and Taft, the Murray player will serve a mission. Only one player from Riverton is a member of the UBA. All the rest of the Riverton players have never been part of the UBA. As far as scholarships go I feel it is the player and the parent that should make any and all phone calls to schools not the UBA. An academic scholarship will take a person farther in life than a athletic scholarship, it just might not sound as good. BTW the game with the Marshalls was fun, friends on both teams. Thanks. Joe

Geez josie havent them rats been around forever???
well i know the answer and yes they have. The rats are good due to great coaching by JOE JOSIE and how he gets the best out of us kids that have played for him. The day the rats beat the marshalls was a good day no it was great. that just proves that all the hype and the glamour of the marshalls and bucks really isnt special. The all star team got beat by 10 kids who apparently werent worth a grain of salt. DEVIN DEEWERDT pitched an amazing game shutting down the all-stars before going off to the marines that sunday. hey JOSIE im ready to play them again lets set this up!!! i like beating "all-stars"

Thanks Joe!!!!! I have loved everything you have done with the Rats. The boys have always treated me with respect and have done everything I have always asked. Nick, Jake, Andre, Nate, Brandon, Devon, Tad, DJ, Brandt, and the others will be great at what ever they touch due in-part to you Joe. I can't wait to follow the next generation of Rats!
