Boozer is making a wise decision. I think he found out that there wasn't as much of a demand for him as he thought. He is going to make a ton of money this year and next year will depend on how he plays this upcoming season.

I hope he has the best season he has had...plays better D...rebounds better...prepares himself physically for the long season. If he is dedicated the Jazz could have a great year.
Chadders | 3:38 p.m. June 30, 2009
Did he opt in to be traded? I sure hope so. I don't know 1 fan that would rather have just Boozer back vs Memo and Millsap. We better have Memo back no matter what.
Anonymous | 3:38 p.m. June 30, 2009
i guess if there's positive to this.......its that he'll be playing for a contract this year so he just might think about giving us 100%.

WHY?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | 3:38 p.m. June 30, 2009
It's official, Boozer only cares about himself. He wasn't about to loose any money to help the team move toward a championship. If he really wanted to be here, he would've resigned ofr a smaller contract so we could keep Paul. Watch Memo opt out and go elsewhere because he won't wanna play for what the Jazz'll wanna pay him, so instead of getting an extension with Okur we'll get one season of Boozer playing like a jerk up up his stock around the league while the Jazz stay mediocre without Memo, and who knows how they'll be able to keep Millsap. Seriously Boozer, take a hint: WE DON'T WANT YOU!!!

now all we can hope for is a trade. Boozer found out he sucks and no one wants him. Its time to swallow your pride and start kissing jazz fans butts.
Brad | 3:39 p.m. June 30, 2009
Ugh..........
Da JAZZ!!! | 3:39 p.m. June 30, 2009
This is just great! Welcome to another year of Boozer only playing 66% of the games along with his pathetic defense! I'm glad Korver decided to stay as a shooter of his caliber is rarely found. All we need is Memo to opt in or sign an extension and Millsap to start at the 4.
Fedor | 3:39 p.m. June 30, 2009
Just like Boozer said, "I'm a Jazz man." We dead with him, we dead without him. This is maybe worst day ever for Fedor. Jazz players, keep a close eye on your girlfriend.
Mark | 3:41 p.m. June 30, 2009
I had a feeling that Boozer would not opt out. No 'pay raises' out there for him this summer.

I also believe that KOC is working on a sign and trade deal.
ARGH!! | 3:41 p.m. June 30, 2009
This guy is like a bad smell!!!

There goes either Millsap or Okur at a minimum!!!

Thanks alot BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZ!!!!
Travis | 3:41 p.m. June 30, 2009
What a liar!!!
Michael Jenson | 3:41 p.m. June 30, 2009
NOOO!!! I was hoping for a sign and trade deal so we could ship Boozer on out of here
fossil | 3:42 p.m. June 30, 2009
the only reason boozer isn't leaving is that no one was going to sign him, he will leave next summer watch he will be a judas goat and leave us in the lurch if he can walk out, he probly will miss most of the season with a ouchie. boob.
Adam M | 3:42 p.m. June 30, 2009
No surprise there. We trade him before the trade deadline, if not before the season starts.
Oh Emails! | 3:42 p.m. June 30, 2009
Great. We have another year of "Will he? Won't he" from Boozer. Looks like Boozer will distract us all year, kill our cap space, and leave at the end of next season. Thanks Boozer, thanks.
Nate | 3:42 p.m. June 30, 2009
Shoot...he is staying. Is it possible KOC is planning to trade Boozer?
mike123 | 3:42 p.m. June 30, 2009
Booooooooo! we hate you Boozer.
I hope the Jazz are smart and trade him
Brad | 3:42 p.m. June 30, 2009
Ugh...........
Michael | 3:43 p.m. June 30, 2009
NOOO!!!!!
dst03 | 3:43 p.m. June 30, 2009
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
snooperdog | 3:43 p.m. June 30, 2009
He'll definitely be traded before the trade deadline
BOOOOO | 3:43 p.m. June 30, 2009
BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
someone | 3:43 p.m. June 30, 2009
PLEASE trade him...
So be it.... | 3:44 p.m. June 30, 2009
I definitely have mixed feelings on Boozer opting in, but if he is going to stay then I hope he has a good year. I feel this team needs some new blood, but it is his choice so we will live with it. I do think this team is pretty good when it is healthy; regardless how they finished last season. But if they are going to stay together they better figure a way to get past all their differences and build some real chemistry! The Lakers had talent and chemistry this year and look where it got them.....
Jim Boylen had it right | 3:44 p.m. June 30, 2009
Sloan should take the players nakes off the back of the Jazz players jerseys this year, maybe it'll teach players like Boozer to think about the team more than themselves.
The Iceman | 3:44 p.m. June 30, 2009
Fine, the Jazz can now entertain trade offers - or best of both worlds, see how next season unfolds before trading him before the deadline.
DCJ | 3:44 p.m. June 30, 2009
Bummer.
jbra80 | 3:44 p.m. June 30, 2009
Well there goes the season...but at least we have the possibility of trading his expiring contract. Maybe we can use that to work on 2010-11 roster. Lottery pick from knicks, plus a lot of expiring contracts...maybe the future can be alright, but upcoming season is dead.
JazzFan | 3:45 p.m. June 30, 2009
This was obviously a business decision for Boozer. Maybe he'll learn now to keep his mouth shut in the future. He'll have to play well next season for the Jazz if he wants a pay raise the following season!
Iowa Jazz Fan 2 | 3:45 p.m. June 30, 2009
Bummer!

Why don't I mind if he gets injured and sits out most of this season also??!!

Jazz Fan | 3:45 p.m. June 30, 2009
Dang. That puts a damper on the season. He will take up money, sit on the bench, and complain about being hurt. We need someone that wants to play, not collect a paycheck. Another first round exit?!
depressed | 3:46 p.m. June 30, 2009
If Memo doesn't opt out that makes $72m in payroll for the Jazz. That creates no room for Millsap. We lose him to free agency because it turns out that other teams don't want a lazy, screaming, injury-prone Boozer.

It's not that I think $72m is too much to spend; it's just too much for this level of talent. AK's contract is really hurting the Jazz
Carlos Boozer Stinks | 3:46 p.m. June 30, 2009
Well he is not as stupid as I hoped. He realized that he couldn't make more anywhere else.
I was about ready to throw a "going away" party. I really am bummed about this. I believe all Jazz fans should unite and demand a trade for him!
Part of this is just venting, but I don't think we should but up with someone who does serious damage in the locker room, and hardly ever pays 100%
Put in on your calendar folks, June 30th 2010, I am throwing "Good Riddance Carlos Loozer Party"
Boozer is not a team player and I doubt he ever will be. No championship on his watch!

Mordekai | 3:46 p.m. June 30, 2009
Can anyone say sign n' trade? Can't say I am surprised. I am not sure how I feel about him staying. Pros and cons on both sides of this equation.
Fantastic | 3:46 p.m. June 30, 2009
Another 8 seed first round exit, if that now that we will lose Millsap. Boozer is really sticking it to the Jazz fans. He doesn't want to stay, he has to stay because nobody else would be crazy enough to pay him that much. Here's hoping a contract year will motivate him to play some d next year
tbanks | 3:47 p.m. June 30, 2009
Too bad. Pencil the Jazz in for the 7 seed next year and another early exit from the playoffs.
Aus Jazz Fan | 3:47 p.m. June 30, 2009
Boozer is now trade bait ! Hopefully traded before the start of the season, there are plenty of options, we could even try & get a good 2 / 3 for him, trade bait is also Korver & Harpring. But I would like Korver to stay.
James | 3:47 p.m. June 30, 2009
Smart business decision. Now Okur holds the cards. Maybe a trade for the jazz now that Boozer is staying. I sure hope Milsap stays now that he knows Boozer is staying.
Good! | 3:47 p.m. June 30, 2009
Glad to hear it. Hopefully it was not just because there were no other options.
Fortydammer | 3:47 p.m. June 30, 2009
This is not good news!Sign and trade please. I guess he thought his spot on the DL was getting cold. More money to sit on the DL in Utah than play for much less anywhere else. It shows just how bad the market is for Bloozer. Maybe we can get lucky, and Okur will opt out. Then we only have one defenseless slug eating our budget away. Not only is Bloozer killing the Jazz season, he is sending Millsap packing.

Free agency help please!
George | 3:48 p.m. June 30, 2009
Good. But, it just means we'll have to go through all this next year. Hopefully, Boozer will let the Jazz know if he wants to be moved so we can get some value of him before he becomes a free agent next year.
first! | 3:49 p.m. June 30, 2009
Aaaaarrrrgh!!!! Say it isn't so.
AJ | 3:49 p.m. June 30, 2009
I do not like that guy very much....
Too Bad | 3:49 p.m. June 30, 2009
I was hoping he would opt out and then no one pick him up and he have to take 7 mil somewhere else. I would have laughed for hours.
doc | 3:49 p.m. June 30, 2009
Unfortunately, I knew this was going to happen mainly because of a lack of potential suitors and a worsening economy.

Now, there is a real possibility that either Okur or Millsap will end up elsewhere.

Although on the positive side, Boozer will surely give a good effort next year since contractually it will be his final year, and this situation does give the Jazz an expiring contract from which to bargain a better situation for the team.
Tennor | 3:50 p.m. June 30, 2009
dangit.
GM Gameplan | 3:50 p.m. June 30, 2009
Bosh for Boozer makes the most sense. A three team swing might be required, Booz to Detroit Prince to Toronto. It would be nice if he just played defense though. Bringing back Okur and Millsap doen't seem probable. If you have any suggestions please cantact me Kevin O'Conner at the offices of the Utah Jazz.
Jass | 3:50 p.m. June 30, 2009
He will return at least 20 games next season then crack a nail.
uh oh.... | 3:50 p.m. June 30, 2009
Now you dont have money to keep Milsap. OKC future looking brighter and brighter...
NOOOOOOOOO | 3:51 p.m. June 30, 2009
WE ARE DOOOMED WITH BOOZER, HE IS A PLAGUE....

Jazz forward Carlos Boozer, left, has chosen not to opt out of the final year of his contract, a decision that may make it harder for the Jazz to re-sign forward Paul Millsap, right.
